The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

All year really.

Literally the only forward from top to bottom that has been flat out unable to produce this year.

31 (or fewer) better thoughts:

- Bringing up the possibility of Toronto selling at the deadline is hilarious hand wringing that can only happen in this market (and maybe Montreal) given the position we're in. The Leafs have 13 games between now and the deadline. They would have to win maybe, maybe 5 of those to be that far out of the playoff picture that Dubas would remotely consider selling.

- Toronto is interested in "insert random defender name who may or may not fit or be good here". Thanks Elliott. For all that these muppets rattle on about our cap situation, they sure suggest that the Leafs are interested in a lot of mediocre or worse contracts. Clicks are a hell of a drug I guess.

- Montreal shouldn't do anything other than sell. They're 10 points out and aren't a good hockey team. The idea that running back this same group next season is a good idea...is a bad idea. The idea that not getting good assets now for players like Tatar and Petry so that you can run this group back is a horrible idea. Embrace the tank.

- Likewise, NYR shouldn't entertain the idea of keeping Kreider. They should be looking at clearing bad cap (Staal, Smith, etc), let Kreider walk (can't be the guy paying 7 million to a 25/50 guy into his mid 30's...let someone else make that fuck up) and look to add another impact body. They're actually an interesting mix of talent/age there. Another big signing (blueline?) and Shesterkin being for real would change shit really quickly there

- The Sabres are still a tire fire. That makes me smile. The single biggest culprit is that they draft and develop like shit. They've torched a bunch of high draft picks on mediocre talent and when they've had legit talent fall into their laps, they do a poor job turning them into well rounded players (Risto, come on down)

- Parros is going to the battle of alberta game to act as a deterrent eh? Could have saved yourself the plane trip and just done your fucking job in the first place. I wish someone with a clue would go to the DoPS office to act as a deterrent next time Parros has work to do.

- There's no excuse for the NHL to not be at the 2022 olympics. None. If you can shut the league down for a week to watch Mitch Marner in street clothes hit targets at middle ice from the beer cart, you can shut the league down for 2 weeks so that we can see best on best hockey at the most prestigious sporting event in the world.

- Yeah, Elliott is more or less spot on here. Accurate passing data is going to be a huge, huge treasure trove of analytic wonder. The new tracking data is going to be massive imo, though I think a lot of what the media will end up focusing on won't end up meaning much of fuck all (I'm sure we'll see garbage shit rambled on about like distance travelled, top speed, etc, etc). For even the semi initiated though, there's going to be a lot of good stuff in there that may lead to a new layer of challenged assertions about what is important on that ice and what isn't.

- Maybe Bobrovsky is just junk and it's not Florida's fault? Just maybe?

I know that Edmonton wins more than they used to, but whenever I think of Buffalo with Eichel I tend to think of Edmonton with McDavid...and then I look at the Leafs and our 1st rnd pick.... and where we are in the grand scheme of things.

Anybody thinks Dubas is a problem should give their head a shake.

FU*K OFF Molson and Bergevin , I will take sport management retards for $ 400 Alex

Buy a clue folks

I'm guessing that while minny is definitely dangling Dumba, Dubas is only asking about Spurgeon.

Thanks ..... I needed a laugh today.
This is spot on!

Dumba is a better fit and younger

Why is the significantly lesser player who is neither big, physical, nor good defensively...a better fit? I could understand someone making the (bad) argument that Dumba was the better fit if he was basically a Josh Manson type. But he's not. He's a puck mover, except he's not as good a puck mover as Spurgeon is.

Solid numbers despite having a poor PDO and playing top pairing minutes. Sign me up

Forgot he signed an extension. Could be iffy in the last few years of that deal but still worth the risk

Dumba: ES B- qoc, 0.61p/60, 0.41p1/60, 47.7cf% (-2.5relT), 49.4xgf% (-4.7relT)

Couldn't be more different. One is awesome, the other is a downgrade on Ceci.
