The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

Yeah if they resign Muzzin it makes Dermott expendable in the quest for a top pair RHD.

Although, I'm not sure how much sense it makes to resign Muzzin period, with Rielly/Sandin/Dermott. He would likely be relegated to the 3rd pair at some point relatively soon. I guess they would plan to expose him in the expansion draft.

Dermott and 1 of kap/AJ/kerfoot would bring in a legit piece.

Still leaves us:
Rielly - trade piece
Muzzin - holl
Sandin - barrie (replaced by lilly next year)

And you have understand branding globally now. Hats and sweaters and tshirts are worn all over the world.

The Leafs did not want to lose cutie Nylander. That is what I heard. He brings in bucks in alternative branding revenue.

And thank god, one of my fave Leafs has really flourished.

He built over four years a kids body into a beast body. He can take punishment now. Heck in two years he might start smoking guys.

His dad, knew what he was doing it seems.

Seriouisly, and it might take Mindzeye. The deepest guy on this board imo What is the perfect formula?

You have to have some top end talent, but its so easy to go overboard and sign up guys who could be washed up after half their contract.

I haven't the time to put into it, but has anyone calculated the next to perfect manuscript for putting together a great contending team perennially?

I haven't. Its too crazy for my old head.

I just know duds when I see them. One of my eye skills Sure blew a great record with my historic bad call on Crosby so....I defer.

I don't think it's all that complicated, pick a style and system that fits the players you have. You need a boatload of skill up and down your lineup and a high hockey IQ, with that you have a chance if you get into the playoffs. Ultimately it comes down to hot goaltending, you need a goalie to get hot in the playoffs to get you deep.

Long term success would be drafting and developing well and not paying for marginal players. Basically what the Leafs are doing.

Scotty Bowman was the master with Sam Pollock at tinkering at a lineup, to find that alchemist mix of greatness.

But me personally, I want to keep Kapanen. And I quite like the pluck of Kerfoot.

To me, we are one of the top three teams in the NHL when Fred plays well.

We are really something.

But if we wanna really go for it. We trade Marner for Kane and Lehner.

Dramatic stuff. Marner is 9 years younger than Kane. But..... hey, go for it Dubas. But I doubt he will, he wants to stay for eons.

But hot goaltending is determined by depth pushing the top goalie no? Who is pushing the sleepy Dane? Hutchison?

I think we have pretty well everything to make life hell for everyone, cept we have NO backup.

Marner for Kane and Lehner and take back 2 million, and lets go boys.

We need a dramatic demonstration by Dubas to win the Cup this year. Tavares, is someone I love. But as many here, constantly point out, he is slowing down a tad.

No wonder, this guy has been a MOOSE on the ice since the day he played game one.

I still like him a lot.

I don't like people commentating on how diminished he is.

He is what he is, a bull, who is not all that big. willing to slog in the trenches. With a wicked shot most of the time, etc....

study the Andy Bathgate comparison towards Tavares....

New York star, to Toronto. Star in New York, never feels completely comfortable in Toronto. Back then, they just paid a huge price to get Bathgate, present day, we paid huge AAV. Cap etc...

It was easier back in the day.

I'd even go 5yrs with muzz

Unfortunately I think that is what it may take to get him to stay on a semi friendly deal

One thing on Dubas side is Muzzin having a new kid and having both sets of grandparents close by. Happy wife happy life

Unless its some big bargain in the $4 million range I really don't see the point. He'll be a 3rd pair dman here in the next year or two and is past his best before date.

In an ideal world the Leads can turn Muzzin/Barrie/Ceci's $11 mill cap hit into a legit top pair RHD.

I mean, on what planet is Muzz at $6m better than potentially Pietrangelo at $9m? One is a game changer and the other is probably a fringe #4 in two years, and on our team likely third pair with Sandin and Lilly emerging. I still hope we let him walk, or at the very least wait till July 2 to resign him. And if we do resign him, 3 years max.

He's 30yrs old and has an argument to being the #1 dman.
