The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

Imho,

Unless the leafs can "steal" a player, I wouldn't do a thing, except try to get a solid goalie, to backup anderson.

I wouldn't trade kappy or johnsson this season.

The leaf's really haven't had much time together as a healthy unit.

Let this team play out the season, and then look at trading an expensive piece, in the off season if needed.

If reilly comes back before the playoffs, having sandin come up and perform as he has, is like getting defensive help for free.

And lilly is still down on the marlies, to step in if others fail at their jobs.

Now if reilly isnt going to come back this season, or there are other problems with reilly, then all bets are off.

I wouldnt be adverse to picking up some cheap help .... but only CHEAP help.

With san jose out of it thornton appears to be considering being a rental.

Not sure if he would keep up with out current style but would provide some C Depth and would likely not cost much.

A guy who can produce on the second PP, that can push a 4th line to success, can jump into most situations and provide ...

Yes he is slow as fuck, but he has been in this league for 20 years and will go through a wall to win ....

If he can be had for a minor pick (4th or 5th) or a minimal prospect on the marlies ... I would do it.

Listening to Carlo on trade talks on tsn radio right now just makes me sad for him and chances of ever being a GM in the league.

It’s too late for that now. A year or two ago Thornton still would’ve been a useful addition, but he’s as finished as Patrick Marleau now.

I’d pass, even if the Sharks were giving him away.

30 year old with a monster contract til 36 .....hard pass

People think spurgeon is just a guy, because he's small and doesn't put up massive point totals, but the underlying numbers have always thought that he's a legit elite dman.

Does he play on their top pair with Suter?

Yep.

Spurgeon with Suter: 53.7cf%, 58.8xgf%
Spurgeon w/o Suter: 53.9cf%, 54.7xgf%
Suter w/o Spurgeon: 43.0cf%, 40.8xgf% (time without spurgeon is mostly with Dumba)

And spurgeon's qoc is higher than Suter's so the time spent apart is tougher comp for spurgeon and easier comp for suter.

3 years max.

Let’s not Marleau ourselves again by giving someone like this too much term. Or dollars. He has to be in the low $5m range.

If Muzzin stays does they potentially mean Dermott shifts to the right or gets packaged in a bigger deal for a righty?

Seriouisly, and it might take Mindzeye. The deepest guy on this board imo What is the perfect formula?

You have to have some top end talent, but its so easy to go overboard and sign up guys who could be washed up after half their contract.

I haven't the time to put into it, but has anyone calculated the next to perfect manuscript for putting together a great contending team perennially?

I haven't. Its too crazy for my old head.

I just know duds when I see them. One of my eye skills Sure blew a great record with my historic bad call on Crosby so....I defer.
