I'm not saying he doesn't help now. I'm just saying they don't need him long term.

To sign him for market value doesn't really make sense.
 
The thing for me is its either muzzin or dermott since neither is going to fill that 1st pair RHD slot.

He won't cost much more than 4.5-5.5 for 4 or 5 years. He's an aging d that will be coming off a ~30 point season and apparently wants to stay in Toronto.
 
Maybe, but unless they are going to start playing Muzzin, Rielly or Sandin on their off side it doesn't matter. Its hard to argue that with Rielly/Sandin/Dermott that money isn't better spent on a RHD.
 
Tricky shit, not even going to comment on it. Muzzin really does want to be here. But it may not be possible He for sure, can get big bucks for length from some silly team, he can always come home in the summer.
 
If he wants more than 4 years and a NMC, I don't think you can do it. We have assets for trades to acquire a DMan in the summer.
 
If Florida can have the tax advantage they do, we should be allowed to bring endorsement deals to the table when negotiating... have a team that can track down and negotiate a few endorsements for Muzz...

'Here Jake, you take this sweetheart deal for us, we got you an endorsement deal with Tim Hortons and whatever"...lol wouldnt that be awesome to be able to do.
 
That is essentially what went down in the Stamkos negotiations. The Leafs just have to make sure their finger prints are not on it
