The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

It was a bad move period

Speaking of Debrincat he has seen quite a correction this year. On pace for 20g/56pts

His shooting percentage has seen the most significant drop going from 18.6 to 8.4 but his PDO is still hoovering around 101

Is this an outlier season for him or a correction?

Marincin paired with Barrie for fuck sake. If we do bring in another d-man as well as signing Muzzin, then I feel Dermott is gone

Scotty Bowman tinkered and tinkered along with Sam Pollock. Just like all of us who cook and make meals for ourselves and our families.

We have NO NO NO backup goalie. DO you think the team knows this? Ya they do

But they love playing for Keefe a lot

But you have to get a backup. Display someone, get some interest and pull the trigger Dubas.

Until I see Dubas being more goalie appreciative, he is analytically, an old dino.

Where is a team in the NHL, that understands goaltending.

Might be the Rangers.

We are the worst team in that regard. Dubas loves the front of the net. but hot damn, he is clueless on backups.

The future of hockey in the NHL is a team that gets goaltending.

St. Louis still does not have Tarasenko.

Will they win the Cup? No. Why? Not going to get into it.

Yeah, unless Dermott can play his off-side capably (which they seem very reluctant to try), Muzzin getting re-signed would basically spell the end of Dermott's career as a Maple Leaf. He almost certainly ends up as trade fodder.

I guess there's also the possibility that Sandin could play on his off-side too, but I'd be surprised.

And goddamn fucking Marincin.

It's been mentioned a few times around here that Dubas should have fixed the goaltending by now, and that it's one of the blemishes on his record.

And heh at you flipping from "Babcock was not the problem, Dubas built a flawed team" to "Dubas fired Babcock way too late"

I mentioned that Babs was not the only problem. And he definitely wasn't. Keefe himself has mentioned how the team is immature and has to learn to play better in their own end. There have shown flashes of better play in the defensive zone but there are still far too many boneheaded plays. Learning when to pinch, especially when they have the lead is one big example of something this group needs to work on. It turns out Babs was definitely the biggest problem which I was definitely wrong about.

And Dubas has been brought up here and there but IMO should really be roasted for what is now 2 years without a competent back-up goalie. And now the starter is also not looking so hot and we continue to sit here with Michael Hutchison as our backup goalie, half-way through his 2nd year as GM. And as people have mentioned, the number of losses we have suffered because of this "small mishap" may cost us a playoff spot this year.

Still would like to see if coming up under Keefe would have been better for sparks. Both in terms of the quality of play in front of him, and in terms of the mental and emotional support.

Yeah, Babcock was probably asking him to rank his family members by how much he loves them, and then sharing the list with them and stuffing him in a locker, calling him a soft bitch as he left to shoot a promo for bell #letstalk

Yeah, most of us have more than acknowledged his colossal failure on the goaltending front.

Heh. Sort of.

Whereas Hal Gill was built like a refrigerator but at the same time was pound-for-pound the softest player in the league, Marincin's just a gangly, twitchy translucent alien with zero hockey sense, an awful panic threshold and zero puck skills.

Let's not re-write history here.

At the time, you wouldn't even acknowledge the possibility that Babcock was a problem at all.

I also don't recall you having any complaints about the starting goaltending. Your argument was that the core group of this team was rotten, and that before we even considered firing Babcock, we should start trading some of Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares & Rielly.

Own your shame.

Yep, this was a soft, fundamentally flawed team that was bailed out by its goaltending.

Oh how the turn tables.
