The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

Sandin seems to have made the transition pretty easy and looks comfortable. Im thinking Timmy should as well but it wouldnt be a shock if he doesnt either

9gms doesn't mean anything for him.

Yep. Your entry level deal only slides if you're a teenager playing outside the NHL.

Timmy's 20, so he's been burning the first year of his ELC from the start of the season. The only number that matters for him is 40 games. If he'd hit that mark, he would have burned a year of his RFA eligibility.

Sandin and Lilly staying on the team are critical to our fortunes long term. To have two guys in the top 4 who are making less than $1M each? Kinda need that to get by.

I really hope Dubas sees what I see in Barrie and makes a move. He's just a dumb player. I couldn't believe when Sakic threw him in and retained 50%. It was inexplicable, until I see how the guy plays now. Just a rare case of a guy able to put up points, but at the same time not be good. If some other team is blinded by the post-Babs stats he's put up, we should be able to do something impactful. Really, really hope this is something Dubey is working on.

I mean as in if they feel comfortable going forward with him in a full time role into the playoffs (we have 9 games until the deadline)

It may be a determining factor in where they are looking to upgrade on D

Noodles: " the analytics crowd spun the Clifford thing into him being great defensively. If he went to Montreal they'd be burying him. He doesn't have great underlying numbers but he brings an element that they don't have. It's intangibles!"

- Noted analytics expert, Jamie McClennen.

"He doesn't have great underlying numbers" except he does.

What a weird statement.
It was a weird rant. I listen to the show once I awhile because it's funny at times. But this rant drove me fucking nuts.

There's this narrative going around that Dubas caved on his ideal hockey team thing by getting Clifford. They see it as him finally admitting that grit and character matters more than he thought.

Admitted what?

That Clifford is an analytics darling and a big nerdstats upgrade?

Was trading for muzzin also admitting something?

Okay I think I'm going to take a break from overdrive. They're funny and stuff but holy fuck they're all insanely stupid people.

In yesterday's comments, he said something (can't quite recall exactly what now) about how people have long looked at this team as missing an element, and that Clifford addresses that complaint.

Okay so show me the part where he admits he was wrong.

Has he ever said they were a perfect team?
