I heard again some more talk of PK... but I know of previous coaches that say there is something just gets him in peoples bad books... since he was younger.
 
PK at 50% retained may be something I would consider but it would really depend on the cost as well.

The days of the PK we all know are gone but some think his underlying numbers are good enough to be productive in a top 4 role. Just not at 9 per
 
Wouldn't PK be the same kind of thing as Barrie, though? Someone who we have to play in somewhat of a sheltered role?

And there's the possibility that his offensive game has fallen off a cliff.

Big risk, considering even at 50% retained, you'd be taking him on for two more seasons after this one at $4.5M.
 
No settling. Go big or go home.

As much as I detest Barrie, I’d rather keep him than spend assets on a questionable upgrade.
 
I would trade barrie in a heartbeat for a 1st, "IF" that return were available. If it isnt a first in return .... keep him.

This scenario has been a blessing for lilly and sandin.

Receiving the experience they are getting for the rest of the season.... priceless.

Other than that, Stay the course, unless there is a deal to be made which will result in something extraordinary.

If there are problems within the team, wait till the end of the season.

Dubas has no problem exiling a player of selfish intent to the outside .... remember sparks last season?

If the leafs dont get into the playoffs, so be it.

The Babcock era, INJURIES and sub par goaltending have seriously damaged this team.

The biggest problem for dubas at this point is not the defence.

If the forwards would backup the defencemen better, you might see a better defensive response from this team.

The leafs goaltending this season been sub par at best.

And there isnt much to be done to fix this area now besides laying a defencman in front of the goalie to help them out lololol.

SOMETIMES, it is two steps forward and one step back.

These are kids out there and by running on empty (cap hits), filling out your roster with players because of monies instead of talent, will sometimes create areas of concern.

But this doesnt seem to be the case here, because the bottom 6 players have performed admirably.

Dubas seems like a smart young man, that will pull this together this season or next.

Remember all the crap coming out of the st.louis camp last season?

And they got it together and won the cup.

Sink or swim with this group .... except barrie lol.

Never liked him ..... reminds me of gardiner and I couldnt stand gardiner.

I think it will cost the leafs a top 6 player, as well as a top prospect and a engvall.

Maybe a sandin, kappy and engvall plus maybe a draft choice for EK as well as San Jose taking 3 million of the cap hit.

For me .... not worth it.

7 more years at 11.5 million per season, (8.5 if San Jose were to eat 3 million of it), not worth it.

Karlsson has had some injury problems in the past ....

I dont know If Karlsson would even come here.

But I agree that this is the only type of trade you make this year if it is available.

Nice to imagine a Karlsson on the PP, and having reilly and or Karlsson out on the ice for 45 minutes of the game .... that would be dangerous lol.

But I would bet that vegas or vancouver would be heavily involved for a trade for his services.

I get that we have injuries, but so many teams are right against the cap, even teams reportedly losing a lot of $$.
 
The Flames could be a prime candidate to pawn Barrie off on with Gio and Hamonic potentially out for a while
 
Jones is IR with an ankle injury with no timeline for a return. Another potential candidate for Barrie
 
Damn.

But with Columbus not having a 2nd or 3rd this year or a 2nd next year would they move another high pick? Ive always liked anderson but thats not enough for barrie
