The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

A couple interesting points from Bobo this morning;

1. The Leafs management sat down with the players a couple weeks ago an challenged them to give them a reason to add at the deadline. They failed that challenge.

2. Bogosian was leaning to the Leafs, but they pulled out after the game on Saturday. Given what happened the last week or two they are going to give opportunities to the kids.

3. They are shopping Barrie, and want a 1st. Not interested in Stecher as a centerpiece, basically because of what happened with Ceci. He has arb rights and they don't want to pay another 3rd pair dman $3-4 mill next year.

So they really wanted Bogosian.


Yeah Dubas hasn't done much that's based on analytics. For all the hate he gets because of advanced stats, it's kind of unwarranted. He acquired and stick with Ceci, acquired Barrie and paid 10.9 to mucho. Doesn't seem like very progressive thinking.

At the same time though Dubas has gone on record to say he is not all advanced stats all the time so if there wasn’t interest it doesn’t shock me but you’re probably right

Friedman is on the same narrative as well. Saturday was the the breaking point
 
Bobo said it wasn't Saturday as much as it was Saturday and Tuesday and Sunday and the Panthers game and the Rangers game. Its just that up until Saturday night it looked like he was coming here. But it sounded like the Leafs told Bogosian they are going in a different direction and giving the young kids a shot rather than looking to add a vet.

Giving time to kids seems to be the difference?

Didn’t the board to bitch about marleau taking up a roster spot from kids?
 
I mean it makes perfect sense really. Given the results over the last couple weeks why not run with the kids, even though they haven't impressed, over adding a band-aid with no sticky stuff left.
