But you never warned us about Dubas doing the same.
Edit: they've also gotten progressively worse the last three seasons. So your theory hasn't been tested just yet.
They haven't got progressively worse, at all.

And as I said earlier, the Kadri trade they ended up going with was way better than the Calgary alternative. Kerfoot is a nice piece. Young, cheap and cost controlled. Turn Barrie into futures and the deal all of a sudden looks great. Its not really a true sell. They aren't moving Clifford, Spezza, Muzzin etc.
Barrie just hasn't been a good fit here, and it would be a shame to let him walk for nothing in a year that doesn't look like its ours anyway. Especially when you can just give his PP time to Sandin, and ES time to Lilly as those guys are going to be important parts of this team moving forward. The organization is better served doing that, and I'm not convinced the team would be worse off.
But it only happens if they get an opportunity to add another Sandin/Liilly/Robertson to the organization. Which would be great.
Bobo said they aren't giving up on the year. Thats not the message. They are just going to challenge their core to get it done. And really the core should be good enough to get into the playoffs and make it interesting without adding band-aids like bogosian or letting a 3rd pair dman like Barrie go.

Fair enough. Dubas should have known better. Barrie is an analytics nightmare, and so was Jankowski. They were likely the best offers he received but still.. overall while the trade was fine, it wasn't great. Flipping Barrie for assets imo makes it a more than solid move.Yeah. Kerfoot is fine, but neither trade was a great use of Kadri in retrospect. Right idea, but wrong assets.
Its more opportunity cost. Kadri was their best, tradeable trade chip. So to move him for an average 3rd line center and a year of Barrie would be a shame.
It would suck if they traded Kadri to solve the D problem, but didn't so now they also have to trade Kappy and Dermott or whatever.

This year under 100 points most likely. Progressively have produced worse results. Goaltending is part of the team too ya know. I know that's the main reason for this year but that you know... Makes them worse.

Fair enough. The 105 point season had a lot to do with luck. Maybe they haven't gotten that much worse but they certainly haven't gotten better.Oh you're caring about shootouts now. My bad.
Uh. Is Egor Korshkov the Leafs 4th best prospect?
I ask cause Button had him 4th after Robertson, Lilly and some ItalianHe's older than half of the Leafs current roster.
Zekie boy, it’s not selling when we trade Barrie. It’s improving. Both immediately and for the future. There is literally no way to lose a Barrie trade.
