The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

I mean....I dunno.....(**ducks**)......he might actually have a point.

Clifford might legit be the reason Kappy has felt comfortable chucking them twice in the last week, I won't dispute that. But we've seen Kappy play at this level or higher in the past. It's the smashing together with "face punching" and the quality of his game that I object to. Kappy has been good overall, and was pretty fucking inspired in that win against Pittsburgh, but he's hardly become a brand new player....aside from the face punching.

Taking a deeper dive, Kappy hasn't even been good since Clifford showed up. 47.6% (-5.7% rel). 6 points in 12.

I’m sure there is some truth to that..... having tough guys as part of a group tends to make others in the group feel a little braver.

Remember how brave Kadri was when the Leafs had Orr and FM?

I mean Kappy has been great the last week or so. I am not sure that has anything to do with Clifford though. Might have way more to do with that shitty run they were on.

Carolina game aside, the whole team has been great since the 2nd Pitt game. Well the skaters.

But....and follow me for a second, this might sound crazy....what the fuck does fighting twice in a week have to do with "his game"?

Yeah I'm only talking about the fights and hits. Doesn't seem like a coincidence, and I like seeing him step up there.

His metrics have been bizarrely low all year for some reason tho. Worse than my eye test would guess.

The fights I'm willing to shrug and go with it yeah. Though I don't think he would have hesitated to defend Sandin after the cheap shot with or without Clifford on the bench.

Yeah, same. His transition game looks and feels as good as ever, he's even added some grease in his hands to my eye test. Must not be doing a whole lot with it once they get the zone time. That's the rub with analytics, a couple percentage points in either direction is a huge difference and it's often tough to figure out where they're coming from.
