The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

Andersen played very well last night against an onslaught of points shots

I have been a fan of him for the most part, but yeah, he was shit for a big part of this year.

But criticizing after last nights game?

Seriously?

This fanbase might never get a Cup with that b.s.

He made stop after stop, Sergachev alone should have had 3-4 goals.

And losing my favourite Leaf player? Jake Muzzin? Ugggghhh. Not good at all.

Guy is a champ. That guy took a massive, massive, massive discount, AS I PREDICTED>

But he is crazy. But he is close to his parents and his grandparents and this is a guy truly NOT a MUCHO.

Jake is an anti mucho it seems.

He could have gotten 7 years for 6 million from anyone else.

If I was his agent I would have advised him against this reckless decision. Money evaporates faster than time.

That guy took a massive, massive, massive discount

5.6 million is not a massive discount for Jake Muzzin. It would make him the 33rd highest paid defender in the NHL, which is pretty much spot on for market value, and pretty much bang on the comparables contracts we've thrown around here in discussions (Niskanen, Stralman)

Comparing him to past contracts is not a great representation. His age is a factor in keeping the price down but at this moment he's a 7-8 million dollar player with mother fucking ease. He has that kind of impact.

It's best to compare caphit to capceiling at the time of signing.

Next year cap is projected at about 84.5 so his contract is about 6.7% of the cap.

Stralman: 6.75%

So yeah, spot on. Niskanen was 8.3% but he signed the contract as a 27 yr old.

However we want to slice it, that caphit or % isn't a massive discount on a 4 year deal. It's pretty much right.

This won't filter down to the talking heads, but it's nice to see it at least getting coverage

Basically a deep dive into the numbers suggests that the Leafs xG isn't lying. That despite needing improvement in some areas (like any average defensive team), they're hardly the defensive tire fire they're reported to be. Freddy, stop the fucking puck.

Stralman's latest contraact?

Muzz is much better than stralman was when he signed, and 2yrs younger.

Does anyone want to consider what our blueline would look like today if Dubas was as reactionary as the team fanbase and just said **** it, punting on Tyson Barrie for whatever he could get?

Dermott-Holl
Sandin-Lilly
Rosen-Marincin
Gravel

Breathe it in.

Hate Barrie as much as you want, but you're just plain irrational if you won't admit that he's an elite puck mover and at worst a 2nd pairing defender on any team in the league. He's got warts, no argument there, but the overall impact of his puck moving makes him a net positive.

He’s a good player.... he is just not what the Leafs need right now.

Now Muzzin on the other hand.... we are going to miss him for sure!

2yrs prior to signing, even strength:

Stralman (31-32): 18:02, B+ qoc, .83p/60, .45p1/60, 51.2cf% (-1.7relT), 52.0xgf% (-1.5relT)

Muzzin controls the ice surface. Do all of you just watch stats?

Sickening actually. I know a serious player when I see one. Like I saw Ryan O'Reilly. And called him a huge player and doofus Gm's let him go to the second round.

I called Luke Schenn and called him well I called him what he is.

I told the board, that Muzzin was going to sign a massive discount, Andddddd he did.

I made one bad call, I said Crosby was finished because of a serious hip injury.

Dubas stole this deal, Muzzin could have made 7 years with someone.

So as much as y'all hate Dubas he stole this one.

And I still call, that Nylander, might score 100 points one day.

When you consider a goof like Serge Ibaka, makes, like, 30 million usd, you can imagine why Micheal Nylander might want a wunderkid, to make 7 million usd.

Nylander was a steal.

Muzzin a steal and a half.

If there was no cap?

Of course it would elimninate all of Batmans private projects..

The NHL has always been a bullshit, all bout someone other than the players league, but its actually worse than ever.

Serge Ibaka, a goof that plays half a season making 3 times more than Auston Matthews?

Lol. The joke is on the fans.

Marner and Matthews would be richer than beyond their great grandchildren.

Its a b.s. world, The table is set for the Leafs to win the Cup. Lots of quiet betting on that. And no, I cannot validate that.

NHL likes St Louis surprises.

teeds knows. ME just perpetually underrates Muzzin. But he's not alone. Most people do.

IMO Muzzin should have gotten somewhere close to McDonagh/Spurgeon money on the open market.

4 years alone is a steal. I didn't even think it was possible when we were discussing resigning him. My position was it made no sense to sign him at his age unless he takes some kind of 4 year bargain contract for $4-5 mill.

He would have done much better July 1.

It's okay. You're not unlike most who underrate the Muzz. It is what it is.

Well, if I started jerking off to his picture too, you'd get jealous.

If he's your #1, you're probably pretty rough. If he's your #2, your blueline talent is probably really good (at least at the top of it). This weird fixation you've developed with calling him elite lately is extremely Prestonesque.
