The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

If those 3 games are indicative of what to expect going forward...no.

His decision-making is still so fucking bad. It doesn't show up in these nerd stats, but dear lord he sucks. It annoys me to no end to see him on the PP every single time. He literally can't make one decent or creative play from back there. It's a crime for him to continue in that spot once Rielly is back.

Leafs dpairs with > 100min together 5v5

Muzzin - Holl 493min, 57.9xgf% (+7.7) ----> borderline 1st line usage
Rielly - Barrie 303min, 54.0xgf% (+2.3) ----> borderline 1st line usage
Dermott - Ceci 187min, 57.0xgf% (+4.9) --> average 3rd pair usage

Dermott - Barrie 268min, 53.2xgf% (+0.9) -> borderline 2nd pair usage

Rielly - Ceci 463min, 49.3xgf% (-3.5) ------> elite 1st line usage
Muzzin - Barrie 331min, 48.9xgf% (-3.2) -> average 2nd line usage
Dermott - Holl 236min, 51.3xgf% (-1.2) ---> average 3rd pair usage

I will only believe if you can show me the lizard people are pumping their money into Leaf bets in Monaco. I need lizard receipts.

Steve Stavros was owner of the Leafs.

I sat beside his family member with Floydian. We saw, we heard, it happened. Gabeet?

Thanks to Floydian taking on the invisible hand too severely. I have no proof. Whatsoever.

None Dead story? Pehaps, lets see how it unfolds, I do however, get from my guy, every Super Bowl winner Every year. Take it for what it is worth.

If you could control the outcome of every important game. Would you? Sure you would, unless you were a lizard.

You can’t watch pro sports and think that games are thrown. Sorry. The other extreme, cheating - sure. But deliberately losing - nope.

Why would you believe that his decision making doesn't show up in the nerd stats? The nerd stats do exactly that. Value decision making over the more obviously visually appealing aspects of hockey that were overvalued for decades.

Well, put another way...the pairings on the top are Keefe pairings, and the pairings on the bottom are Babcock parings. The stats are going to skew accordingly.

You can make shit decisions and have the other four players and the goalie cover for you. Or the shit decision isn’t necessarily a bonehead giveaway, but oh maybe a stupidly timed shot or the failure to see the open guy or other optimal choices better players would execute on instead.

But seriously it’s ridiculous for anyone to watch this guy and need any stats at all to know if he’s good or not.

Nope.

The decisions he's making are helping to generate positive outcomes. That you don't understand them, or they drive you nuts, doesn't change this. He drives me a bit loony with the eye test too. A lot of bad shot choices to my eyes, but the results are undeniable, and nobody is carrying him to those results.

Bottom line is Barrie slots in exactly where Krug slots in on BOS and Shattenkirk slots in on TB. This is not a weak spot.

The stats are fucked up when they say this guy is good.

Look, as good as Kadri may be (and that's up for debate), Sakic parted with a younger cheaper center who'd registered 40 points in each of his first two seasons to get suspension boy, AND threw in offensive dynamo Barrie AND retained 50% to make it happen? Why, is Colorado not going for it this year? Clearly the stats aren't exactly telling the story here, and Sakic clearly saw this as an addition by subtraction situation.
