The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

I hope this is the last we see of him. It’s hard to see us winning a cup with him as our starter.

#FreeCampbell

He will likely go late in the first round but may also be the best player in the draft. Generational goalie.

I wonder if practicing against a group of endless savage scorers actually erodes a Goalie’s confidence. You can’t help but let in a ton of goals by Matty, JT, Willy, Mitch, etc. Can’t be great for the ego, and then you go into games fresh off from being obliterated and embarrassed by your own teammates.

Keefe on playing Dermott with Rielly:
We are not locked into any of this stuff. In fact, in Phase 2, we had Dermott paired with Rielly and we were giving Derms a lot of reps playing on the right side. I think that is important as well to have that option and that ability. Derms is comfortable there and can be comfortable there if we decide to make a change, but between Dermott or Barrie moving up with Rielly, we feel we have the ability to do that. We like this spread for now.

Crossing my fingers they give this a good look and it works well enough to try it for this tournament.

I think ceci and barrie are likely both very good dmen in #4/5 roles like they will be in now, and that even if dermott is an upgrade it won't be enough of one to make having two odd-handed pairings make sense. And he might be a downgrade.

I think we'll see Ceci and Barrie swapping depending on situation, though.

Or maybe you face tougher shots than you do on average across the league and that helps.

Describing Ceci as “very good” in any role at the NHL level seems like...a bit of a stretch.

But heading into a playoff series, he’s the best option we’ve got to make all three pairings work. Hopefully playing with Rielly while Muzzin/Holl eat the toughest matchups will be enough to shelter him.

And I expect we will see a lot of situational use of the Rielly/Barrie pairing.

Don't think it's much of a stretch tbh.

He's been in an elite top pair matchup role since his 2nd or 3rd season so we haven't had a chance to see how he'd look lower down the lineup....until just recently in the last half of this year, where we saw him paired with dermott and sandin lower in the lineup....

w/Reilly: 475:16, 50.0xgf% (-2.7rel) (elite matchup usage under babcock)
w/Dermott: 189:54, 57.6xgf% (+5.6rel)
w/Sandin: 81:42, 59.2xgf% (+8.3rel)

And this is how he's compared to some other RHD the last 2yrs:
