The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

read somewhere that Willy (and Auston) were top-10 in the league in forced offensive zone turnovers last year. And willy was one of the best in forced turnovers down low along the boards.

Ya, I didn't mean it like he needs babysitters or anything. I just think that line would absolutely wear defenses down and create a ton of chaos in the offensive zone. Although I didn't know he was top-10 good.

ya know, I think Holl might be really damn good. no matter who he's paired with.

I think Keefe has the pairings right....Muzzin-Holl is very good defensively even with tough zone usage and matchups, Dermott-Barrie is fine in 3rd pair matchups.

Rielly-Ceci look not great here defensively (though not awful based on zone usage), but they should look even better against non-elite matchups (both Rielly and Ceci still have the toughest overall qoc on the dcorps this year, ahead of both Muzz and Holl, even though Ceci has spent a decent chunk on a lower pair).

TOI% vs Elite minus vs Dregs (whole season only, no date splits available):

1. Rielly +11.6%
2. Ceci +6.3%

3. Muzzin +5.1%
4. Holl +4.5%

5. Barrie -12.6%
6. Dermott -13.9%

(Marincin -11.9%)
(Sandin -26.0%)
(Lilly -36.6%)

Love seeing Robertson get another look on that 3rd line, but i'd be even more encouraged if Engvall swaps in for Gauthier during this scrimmage/practice.

Would love to see Robertson make it just to shut up the media dumbasses trying so hard to be impartial and attacking Robertson's play in the camp. "HE LOOKS A STEP BEHIND." "LETS NOT AWARD HIM MVP JUST YET AHAHAHAHAHA TORONTO!!!!"

Shut the fuck up.

Shut the **** up.
I don't know why you bother listening to the buffoons anymore. Will just give you a headache.

I listened to one interview on Overdrive with that Shilton broad and they were all jerking each other off over Robertson not being ready. Hayes had some ferociously strong opinion despite never seeing him play. It was bizarre. Fuck 'em all.

They get paid to be dumdums. Remove yourself from the dumdum cycle. Stop giving them their clicks.

Gotta say, have not missed any of the talking heads at all during the pandemic. Will do my best to avoid them completely.

This would be a good time to remind everyone that Holl sat an entire year for zaitsev snd hainsey

Babs: "what we really need is a big mobile two-way RHD"

Dubey: "maybe try Holl who's dominating for the championship Marlies?"

Babs: "lol fuk u nerd"

I'm not convinced that Holl is realgud on his own, since I recall him having some serious struggles when Muzzin went down and he was thrust into a role where he was no longer the second-best defenseman on his pairing.

But after seeing him this year, it does look fairly certain that he's at least a really solid all-around RHD that can eat tough matchups when he's paired with the right partner. And it's totally demented that Babcock had him in the pressbox for a year considering who was playing ahead of him.

I literally hadn't listened to a second of sports talk radio since about a day or two after the lockdown started in Ontario, which is a stretch from mid-March until yesterday, when I flipped on Overdrive out of sheer curiosity.

What I heard was Bryan Hayes & Dave Feschuk speculating that most US MLB teams will have some fans in the stands before the end of their season, that the Canada/US border might be open by September, and that Jays fans might go on road trips down to the States to see the Jays if they play their home games in a place like Pittsburgh.

I mean, either they're aware all that is absolute crazy horseshit but they're talking about it anyway because they have to find something to fill three hours of air-time a day when there's no games to talk about, or they're totally delusional about the world we live in. Either way, a total waste of time to listen to.

dunno - Holl looked really good all season no matter who he played with until reilly and muzzin were down and our top pair was him with Dermott I believe.

Dermott even finally started to look like exciring rookie dermott again when paired with Holl.
