The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

hilarious thing is that saying "truculence" instead of "toughness" made Burke the eloquent educated hockey executive.

With the potential emergence of Robertson, and the addition of Barabanov, what are you expectations for Engvall in 2021-2022 ?

I thought he had the potential to play 3rd line but now it seems his roster spot may not be assured..?

Mmm we're probably gonna want to be moving both kappy and johnsson over the next year or two so there will be room.

Some of these depth wingers are going to be traded for picks or maybe with one of our 4 mill forwards for something useful.

Hyman to me is the interesting one, especially if he puts up a 20-25G season next year.

Engvall will still be around next season, I’d expect. His cheap $1.25M cap hit for the next two seasons is tailor-made to give us the kind of cheap depth we need for our bottom-6.

As far as room on the roster goes, Clifford most likely won’t be re-signed, Gauthier’s roster spot is far from assured, and I figure there’s a good chance one or more of Johnsson, Kerfoot & Kapanen will probably get traded away for cap reasons.

Is Dubas batting something like 80% percent with his 1st/2nd round picks of outperforming for draft slot? Bracco is the only one back when he was co-GM that might not turn out so great?

Kerfoot plays C and has much better possession numbers.

The trick is, what do his possession numbers look like when he’s actually doing the job we acquired him for (3rd line C)?

Because just like in Colorado, a lot of time spent playing on the wing with a legit #1 center is baked into his overall numbers.

And our third line sure seemed like it gave us a whole lot of nothing whenever he was centering it.

I think you’d have a hard time finding a Leaf fan on this board that wouldn’t trade Kerfoot long before we trade Kapanen.

EDIT: Never mind, I stand corrected.

Kappy , Kefoot or Johnson should be easy trades if you want to move them

I would also move kerfoot before kappy but thats likely just emotion because of kerfoot being part of the kadri deal and kappy playing the game with a decent amount of crazy.

My opinion on this is not based in logic and i understand that.

I would bet that most people feel the same way about Kappy vs Kerfoot. Which makes me think he has more trade value. I don;t think there is a team out there thinking Kerfoot would be a good fit on their first line, but I am sure there are some that think that about Kappy and you would do well in a trade.

Ultimately, I don't see a major difference between the three of them though, and Kerfoot is a center and signed longer. If you trade Kerfoot you need to find a replacement for the same price or less. Kappy/Johnsson's replacement is in house for $1 mill or less.

52.93xgf% with Tavares, 52.98 without.

Mikheyev-Kerfoot-Engvall: 47min, 60.8xgf%, 80.8gf%
Mikheyev-Kerfoot-Kapanen: 53min, 59.9xgf%, 52.5gf%
Engvall-Kerfoot-Kapanen: 76min, 57.5xgf%, 49.6gf%
Johnsson-Kerfoot-Kapanen: 21min, 41.2xgf%, ---gf%

With Kerfoot, I think you would be trading him for what he is. Good 3C, under control at a decent price. Kappy though, if you're not getting "what he could be" baked into his trade value, you keep him imo.
