The Expansion Draft

Rumors floating about Vegas getting the 2nd pick from the Flyers to take Patrick
Well, Kelly McCrimmon is Vegas's version of Mark Hunter, and he'd intimately know Patrick from their time together in Brandon.

I wonder what they'd be giving up to make it worth Philly's while though.

Maybe one of their 15 1st round picks?

McPhee really is playing this well if true.

IMO you can get just as good of a player as Patrick at 6. Not sure I see any difference between him and Glass, other than Glass is younger. Ron Hextall is doing a great job.

If flyers can load up on picks for Patrick then man that is shrewd from him. Patrick seems a bit too Sam Reinharty for my taste. Just doesn't seem to have much of a dynamic game breaking game to me. Hextall would be genius to take advantage of a brand new team looking for a face of the franchise off the hop. There are rumblings about it and nothing more than light rumors but man, it makes sense for both parties here.

If I'm vegas I don't do it, but I can understand the appeal.

According to TSN the Lightning are giving up the rights to Gusev to get Vegas to take Garrison.
Clever deal by both teams.

Gusev might not come over to North American in time to help Tampa during the current competitive window they're in. But Vegas can afford to wait for him.

The lure of playing with his former KHL teammate Shipachev might also help Vegas to get him over to North America sooner than Tampa could've.

Dreger is reporting "rumblings" that Brendan Leipsic will be Vegas's pick in the expansion draft.

Of course, he could call those "rumblings" what they really are: basic deductive reasoning.

Shitty to lose a good prospect but I dont see him being much of an impact player

A few good runs in the next few years and we will forget all about him

Offensively, I think he's got the same kind of potential as Connor Brown, which probably means he'll be an NHL player.

The rest of his game currently leaves something to be desired, though.

And while it does suck to lose him for nothing, he's going to be waiver-eligible for the first time next season, and I can't really imagine a scenario where he would've been able to crack the opening night roster. There are just way too many other wingers ahead of him on the depth chart---both kids and veterans.

So, we were probably losing him for nothing either way---either in the expansion draft, or on waivers in October.

Forgot about Raanta. Maybe we can score a decent backup after all
That would be nice. McElhinney performed admirably down the stretch, but having to turn to him as your everyday starter in case of a Freddie Andersen injury (and we have seen he has a tendency to get his melon rattled) is a pretty scary prospect. Whether through free agency or the expansion draft process, it'd be nice to see them add someone more reliable.

I think leipsic is probably a player, but we might have had to put him on waivers anyways, so can't cry too much. We have lots of forwards.

Would rather they take Rychel, of course.
