for the record Schenn is better than Lybushkin. And way better than Gavrikov

plus he leads the league in hits every year.
easy to throw lots of hits when you're constantly chasing the play

let's relax until we see what forward Dubas is getting to replace Engvall, first of all. cause he's getting one.

as for Sandin...he's a small slow 3rd pairing dman who demanded a trade last offseason. getting a 1st+ for him is pretty good.

the best part of the upcoming Cup win will be zeke learning to love again with 3 time champ Schitt
the Sandin move I have no problem with.

but the Engvall for Schitt swap leaves a bad taste in my mouth, despite Pierre's shortcomings

I think engvall offense is getting overrated. He has been replaced by Lafferty whose production based on raw totals and rate stats is basically identical to engvall this year (and unlike engvall I don’t think laffert saw PP time).

engvall had a nice year last year but it looks like an outlier - his rate numbers this year are in line with 19-20 and 20-21.

I know they’re both thirds but I don’t actually look at that as a swap.

I see one being a third given up for a depth veteran defenseman, and one moving out a guy to reshape the look of bottom 6. Like, not connected.
They also needed to shed salary.

It's all moot if they trade out Kerf to grab a scorer.. I personally am now leaning towards Holl being one of the casualties too. They didn't bring in Schenn to be an extra and trading Holl frees up some cash and removes some of that logjam they have back there. So Holl+Kerf out, middle sixer with some offensive pop coming in would be my best guess. But who knows.

And yeah, I agree that Engvall's main impact was being a top tier defensive forward by the nerdies. But they still lost a guy that can score 15+. Going into yesterday they had Lafferty and Engvall on the roster. Now they have only Lafferty.

I predict nothing will happen today

Dubas will provide some goal scoring tomorrow or Friday at the buzzer. Locked and loaded with that first rounder.

Three days ago they had only engvall and then they had both and didn’t have cap space to avoid having Woll as one of the goalies.

They had to lose someone though. Lafferty is Engvall replacement. They could have kept Engvall and not added Lafferty.

But also really ROR is Engvalls replacement. Engvall was the teams 6th best forward before all this ( him or Kerf).

Massive upgrade.

Yeah. It's like most people forgot about the ROR deal -- the guy has fit in so well, he's already part of the family and taken for granted.

Big game from Craig Anderson.
I know this story was from 2009, but seeing Anderson still doing what he is doing.... Would Buffalo think about trading him...

I actually think I would like Anderson as a number 3 in case shit goes sideways.

60 more hits than the monster Gudas that some here wanted...

Also Schenn has spent quite a bit of time playing with Q. Hughes....
Sure Vancouver has sucked, but it really wasn't the D's fault for the majority of the time.

The other bit is if they trade Kerf/Holl they probably didn't have to trade Engvall.. So the way those moves yesterday all worked beautifully to get them perfectly under the cap gives me that nagging suspicion that they're not planning on doing any more.
