The Fantastically Beautiful Joyously Superfun 22-23 Season Celebration Thread

Why do we weaken our forwards to keep 9 active dmen again?

All I am saying is they had to dump $1.2-ish million after the McCabe/Lafferty trade before they even got to 9 NHL dmen (they had to dump $300ish k more after that Sandin $1.4 vs Gus and Scheen $1.7). Someone with salary had to go, even if they stayed with 8D. It could have been Holl.

Would we be less pissed if we sent sandin in the O'Reilly trade instead of our 1st?
Probably would have been an explosion if they traded their young upcoming D for a rental. No other team had to trade a player of that caliber for a rental.

Then again, his value was apparently a late 1st so maybe other teams did do that..

I’m not losing any sleep over Engvall who imo is easily replaceable. They brought in ROR and a couple of other forwards and got rid of Engvall. They also have Holmberg and mcMann who deserve shots.

They needed $ to carry NINE ACTIVE DMEN.

No other team does that.

They needed $ to activate Murray from LTIR after the McCabe trade and before they had 9 D. After they had 9D they just needed more $.

They traded Sandin and Engvall ($3.625 mill) added Schenn/Gus ($1.65 mill), and were left with $850k in cap space. The remaining $1.125 mill was the amount they were over the cap. Someone had to go regardless of Schenn.

Sandin had already submitted at least 1 trade demand. I don't have a problem with the trade, although of course because it's the Leafs the small slow 3rd pairing Sandin turns into a star with the Caps. But the problem was not using the 1st we got and not moving Kerfoot out. Fuck Sandin, he can wait until summer. The team comes first.

Looking more and more like Dubas was just recouping assets in the Sandin trade, and honestly he probably wouldn't get that for him at the draft or in the summer. Good trade, just weird timing.

I think one (or both) of two things happened:

1- Dubas anticipated another trade to happen on deadline day hence he prepared by offloading the other assets

2- Dubas decided that Boston was unbeatable this year, and that he needed to set up the team to beat Tampa only. He calculated that he gets his extention that way, and can go into the offseason looking to build on the one round success towards a cup winning run.

Honestly I think pretty lowly of Keefe but this one is puzzling to me. I thought it was pretty clear that he's arguably their best or 2nd best d. Like I thought his play this year made it completely obvious, no? How are they considering him a bubble guy because they acquired LUKE FUCKING SCHENN.

Keefe is a dummy and is easily replaceable but his eventual replacement will also be a dummy and will be easily replaceable.

The cycle of making dumb decisions because of leader beans will continue until the end of time

Keefe is our dummy hence the extra scrutiny. We don't watch the other 31 coaches under a microscope to dissect the decisions they make

They could hire Montgomery tomorrow and we would be bitching about some stupid lineup decision he would make with a week

I dont care for Keefe either. Can him tomorrow for all I care I just think no matter who they put behind the bench, they will eventually find their security blanket
