The Fucking Season Thread - Redemption Tour '22

I don't think likely is the right word. But its not weird, or totally unexpected either. Its unremarkable.

Sure he could have regressed to the mean in a smoother, less dramatic way. But the saying isn't "goaltending is entirely consistent and projectable".

Of course. Slumps and hot streaks are normal. I wasn't saying that they weren't. Just going against the argument that a period of .940 play makes it more likely that the next batch of games will be AHL caliber. Or if .870 play makes it more likely that a goalie will suddenly go on a heater to end the year. If that's the claim then I really need to see the data to be convinced. And as we all know, with goalies "regressing to the mean" season by season doesn't always happen. Fred was an outlier in that regard.

we all wanted a star goalie out of Jack. because we haven't had one since that fateful day someone left John Ferguson Jr. alone in a room with a working telephone and a large bag of meth.

helluva run he was on though. respect.

Except we see outlier seasons in player careers all the fucking time and they're not bookended by career worst seasons to satisfy the gods.

Maybe but those players usually have career worst seasons too.

Anyways, if we split Campbell's season in even 11gm thirds right now he goes .929, .940, .894

If we go in 8gm quarters we can try to Jimmy the numbers in a couple ways - he's had 2 short games - once he came in as backup in the first quarter and once he was yanked in the last quarter.

If we make the first quarter 9gms then he goes: .932, .953, .930, .864

If we make the last quarter 9gms then he goes: .929, .955, .931, .873

Any which way makes his cold streak look pretty normal and expected I think.

I saw this posted and there are some interesting names I think....

Would anyone think Domi and Bunting on the top two wings would be a real pain in the ass.

Mayfield is solid at least. But not a clear upgrade and I have no idea why the Isles would trade him.

Crouse might actually be decent, but I'm guessing will be very overpriced.

Domi and Konecny are always interesting as they do have talent. Konecny has lots of years left tho so unless they're eating some money I don't see a fit.

Domi....you know....that might actually be a fit. He's got skill and grit and his bad reputation likely keeps the price down and he's UFA. I'm gonna mull that one.

A big no thanks to the worse versions of Bogo on that list - schenn lyabushkin Braun chiarot.
