So we've definitely sprung a leak in the goaltending department. The special teams is probably covering up just how weak the goaltending had been overall this year.

Do you ride the wave on a guy like Forsberg to plug the hole while Jack gets his shit sorted?

He has been solid this year
 
Teams like Ottawa and the habs won't want to throw us any lifeline.

I just hope if we make a deal for a defenseman or a forward that we at the last second ask a team for their back up for a slightly sweeter deal.

ie JT Miller and Schenn..... throw in Halak
Phoenix.... Chyckryn, Crouse, Phil and... throw in the 6'3 Czech goalie
Bigger not likely deal.... Chara, Varlamov throw in Czikas or Clutterbuck (This of course would be with Mrazek added)
 
Well yeah, we know the backup situation. That's probably a contributing factor. Jack played way more while Mrazek was out. Now that he's in, we've got more of his wonderful contributions.
 
really we just need goalie Pete to string together a few strong games while Jack gets his head straight. of course, whether or not this occurs is up in the air.

is Muzz on LTIR yet? his cap space should open a lot of doors, potentially.

A lot of it is really.

Every loss this year *just so happens* to be “a playoff style game!!!”.
 
If I wasn't lazy I'd look at their season splits but it does feel like every season from February on they tend to be shit as other teams tighten up defensively, at least in the last few seasons.

But PTSD plays a big role here. I no longer know what is true. This has been the most enjoyable era of Leafs hockey for me, but this team has put me through hell overall.
 
As bad as Mrazak was I doubt he continues to forget where his net is located. Simply knowing we're he is on the ice saves 3 goals vs the Habs.

Sure I want our goalies to make saves, but the amount of odd man rushes from turnovers and drop passes at the blue line have been absurd.

I want my goalies to make some of those stops, but four or five of those goals in those games were from two on ones or clear break a ways. That's the defence trying too hard to make the creative play when if they don't have anything, they should dump it in and hope the forecheck recovers.
 
I think there’s definitely been some blunders by the D the last few games but just a reminder that there’s actually no reason your goaltender shouldn’t stop odd man rushes too. And Jack has for the most part all year. They shouldn’t go right through him.
