The Fucking Season Thread - Redemption Tour '22

Might be too soon to say it but it's really too bad about Amirov because he was my favorite trade chip heading into this deadline. I'm still down for going balls deep though.

That isn't the way LTIR works. $5 million in LTIR space would allow you to take on no more $5 million in additional AAV. Banked cap space and LTIR cap space are not the same thing.

Yep. You only accrue more deadline cap space when you’re not using LTIR and are below the cap. LTIR space is just dollar for dollar.

PuckPedia has a good breakdown:

It's not really a small sample for the 4 lines at this point... and therefore no escaping that this 3rd line has been terrible, and the 2nd line mediocre.

When you see the numbers for a 3rd line with Engvall on it there, in a decent sample too, the solution kind of looks obvious.

But it seems Keefe is very hesitant to demote either of Kase or Kerfoot to the 4th line. But really for me those two should be battling for the 2nd line slot with the other to the 4th line.

Of course the other solution is to add another legit top 6 forward which could make milky-kampf-engvall more of the 4th line with newguy/kerfoot/kase/Spezza either getting the spot on that 2nd line or making up the 3rd scoring line.
Fascinating that Kase is the one bringing down the third line when Kampf is there. I did keep saying Kase has done next to nothing since he returned from injury, so I guess this supports it. I hope this is just for recently and not the whole year, because it would also be telling us Kase should be dumped.

Retention is gonna be a thing for rentals too if they decide to max their space. So theoretically they can add $10m+ if they need to.

Top pair has been ok...but slipping lately. A shakeup there is not out of the question.

Funny how similar the muzz-holl and muzz-brodie pairings are - both very good underlying and awfuk regular numbers. Muzz-Lilly worse by impact but better by goals.

Bottom pair has been great no matter what.

The actual solution here might be for Keefe to just stop using a top matchup pairing so much, and stop sheltering the bottom pair so much, and use our great depth on D to our advantage.
Trying to make sense of this. Holl with Muzzin stinks. Holl with Sandin is the best dman in the bunch?

Brodie without Muzzin = good. With Muzzin, terrible.

Lilly without Muzzin = very good. Lilly with Muzzin, just okay.

Unless I'm missing something here, this is telling us that Muzzin sucks, or is great and somehow makes everyone who plays with him crap.

He has to go.

Muzzin with Brodie is great! And muzzin gets the toughest matchups. Third pair is mega sheltered.

your analysis does not consider quality of competition, for one.

I doubt Muzz/Brodie and Muzz/Holl were sheltered?

But Muzz is snowballing down a hill real fast regardless.
so I would need to check to confirm but my suspicion is that Muzz has by far the highest opponent's QOC on the team and I believe the data zeke presented does not consider this.

at a minimum, the top-4 play much tougher minutes than the 3rd pair.

and regarding the snowballing, my eye test certainly has Muzz looking like he lost a step this year and he definitely started the year poorly but pretty sure zeke can post the numbers that show that he was turning things around in 2022.

They just see power forward.....and they still have a hard on for us losing playoff gudpro Hyman.

I do think they could use a left winger for the JT line...someone with some ability to retrieve the puck and create space... but that can be cheaper. They need a three/four Dman for the majority of the money and then a smaller amount for a larger bunting.
