sure...but they got Kuch at the real "deadline" and didn't require much else

Engvall is awesome. So many laughed when I kept praising him as the ideal bottom sixer with upside.

Mikky is almost a carbon copy of him. They're both so important to us, and it would be a bad mistake to think of them as fluff that we should just replace internally, because we won't be able to.

It's one thing to let Hyman go for his absurd gazillion year, gazillion dollars deal, but it's another to let these guys slip away when all they'd cost is in the $2M range.

Point is that while the kuch injury saved them from having to ditch gourde and Johnson before the season, it didn't actually give them room to add anything.

We've already done the offseason shedding to get under the cap so now we can actually add big-time pieces.

This is kinda where Dubie tends to shine, when he has financial flex. I'm very curious to see what he can do here, and how much of the future he decides to sacrifice for today.

Give away the prospects in the pipeline before touching Sandin and Lilly. Those guys are basically the same age as the prospects, just proven.

Elliot Friedman is not my idea of "half a brain".....of course MSM guys DM Earl. That's what reporters do. They harvest ideas from contacts. You think they have original thoughts? (or are capable of at juggling a few numbers?) LOL.
 
Whether it's easy or not is besides the point. I've seen enough cap blunders by 90% of the league to believe that they are incapable of basic math, nevermind managing the cap. It's all about relativity and context when evaluating sports management.
