The Fucking Season Thread - Redemption Tour '22

Frenemy is bragging about some coach they just hired away from us apparently?

I guess too important of a poach for there to be even one news item about it. I see a few rumors from a few days ago about the "skills coach" who I didn't even know existed till now.

I hadn't heard of him either but I checked the other day when someone on the Habs board made a whole thread for it. Looks like he was a consultant and one of 8 or 9 guys in our development staff.

And many of those names haven't done that playing mostly top matchup pairing minutes.

I said before that Holl didn’t look all that different to me at any point this year.

Muzzin losing a few steps and constantly brain cramping out there will kill any partner. Those stats that someone posted last week really did show that Muzz was the problem no matter who played with him and it’s true.

They’re not going to be able to do anything but play him this year, but they have to find a taker for him in the offseason, and grabbing a Chychrun type now, to give us some bonus time of having both, would be a wise move both to max our chances this year and give us the replacement to trade Muzz off when it’s done.

Holl has had his brain cramps himself, but who hasn't. I do think though that Holl has played well without Muzzin. He doesn't look that bad with Sandin.
I think Lillegren has flubbed a lot of passes. I think he's missing a few tools in the brainbox.

If we get a solid 3/4 defensemen and we have Sandin and Holl on the third pair, I think we are laughing. Muzzin being the #7 defenseman

Gsva updated today and Lilly got his first update in like a month and a half (Dom had him in the pressbox for the last bunch of updates). Lilly had moved up to 0.6 last time, and he keeps going up....

Rielly 2.0
Sandin 1.5
Holl 1.2
Liljegren 1.1
Brodie 1.0
Muzzin 1.0

I'll have to check but I'm pretty sure that's the only defense in the league with 6 guys at 1.0 or higher.

also numbers and eye test both showing some enduring concerns re Muzzin at this point... have to hope he can bounce back.

He can't. Have to hope he holds up for this playoff run and then deal him for good assets in the offseason before he becomes untradeable next year.

The right call.

Mrazek’s provided perfectly cromulent goaltending his past couple of starts. And this was the way the tandem was originally supposed to work. Roll with the hot (or at least, not ice-cold) hand.

Plus, we need to find out before the deadline whether or not Mrazek is of any use to us this season.

I think they are taking the same "reset" mindset for Jack... if he's given a bit of a break and comes back too soon and is shelled again by a bad team like buffalo, he could be broken for sure.

Give him a March Break to meditate, watch video, and relax

Mediate, clear the state
Activate, now radiate
A perfect state, food on plate
Gravitate, the Earth's own weight
Designate your love as fate
At ninety-eight we all rotate...
