The Fucking Season Thread - Redemption Tour '22

I actually don't think it'll be anything weird or Leafy this particular time. they don't have the goaltending this year.

It would actually be kinda Leafy if they lost last year while having good enough goaltending because their top guys couldn't score, and then they follow it up this year with our top guys scoring buckets of goals but then getting sunk by goaltending.

This guy leafs.

But they'll get even more creative than even this imo. Zamboni driver esque curveball is my bet. We'll never be able to predict it.

True. After all, I don't think any of us had "Tavares almost dying on the ice five seconds into the series", "blowing a 3-1 series lead" and "Matthews & Marner barely mustering any offense all series" on our Leafy bingo card last year.

The Leafiest thing ever would’ve been Ritchie going 20+ playoff games without a single point, then ripping the winner in game 7 of the finals.

Shit. We might’ve fucked up.
That end to end rush he did earlier in the year was bound to end up as a goal in the playoffs at some point. Dumb trade.

Liljegren playing with Mo for over half the game last night made me believe that Keefe has his eyes on making that the top pair. Puts less pressure on him to mix and match to keep Boosher away from o-zone starts or offensive situations and whatnot. Plus it paves the way, in a very straightforward way, for Holl to be scratched. If Muzz is back next game I expect:

Rielly-Liljegren
Muzzin-Brodie
Giordano-Boosh

Rielly-Liljegren will get as many minutes as possible with the Matthews line and they will be placed in all sorts of offensive situations. Muzzin-Brodie will mostly get a bit more heavy usage (i.e. in a case where they play Boston, that's the pairing that gets the Bergeron line, for example), and Gio-Boosh don't need to be ultra sheltered necessarily. Well-rounded d.

I think the 6th spot is Holls to lose and Sandin might be the one he loses it to if he gets healthy fast enough. He has never really had a partner like Gio, could change his ability of playing RD. Or at least more effective than the other two options

Would be best if Muzz-Holl could get their mojo back, and they don't even have to face the competition they did before.

Rielly - Liljegren (soft)
Giordano - Brodie (toughs)
Muzzin - Holl (medium)

I'm still running under the assumption that Boosh is a lock to stick. But if I had it my way the above would probably be my preference, yeah.
