The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

I'm open to the theory. Not married to it. Because at a certain point Kyle changed. A lot. Could be him overthinking his own vision, but maybe it isn't.

he's not a robot; in a real life situation there are compromises you have to make with your collaborators and foxhole buddies (Shanny, Keefe) as you look for the winning formula

I do buy that there was a big internal debate within the Leafs braintrust about how to make us tougher to play against (because don't you sorta have to have that conversation seeing what we saw?) and I do buy that Shanny would've been horny over adding a guy like ROR if he was available... but I dunno, to put some little known guy like Boosh on Shanny seems weird to me. Seems more likely Keefe was asking for a guy to fill that role and did again with Schenn/Bogosian.

Given the way he them deployed them.

I don’t mean that in the sense it was a great move by any stretch. But if yo distill this down to analytics - a guy playing 20mpg, being on the ice for 2 GA and posting a 70%xgf playing next to your top d over two playoff rounds… it looks like a real Gud move.
He was excellent but internal analytics did not make Schenn look good. You couldn't twist any number enough to show that. Good move for sure, but they didn't do it based on nerdies. I promise you.

Again - you don’t know what #s they are tracking or looking at.

Thigh circumference

somewhere out there, teeder just got partly hard reading that. just don’t move the convo anywhere down schenn’s legs…don’t want to give the man a heart attack. Tho I guess dying after having an orgasm to Schenn’s calves is the appropriate way, or as good as anyway for reeder to leave the planet

Luke Schenn was #Actually an analytics move because of some super top secret stats that only the leafs have

yes, there are lots of stats that teams have that aren’t publicly available. Obviosuy, they have the capability to go deeper than using bots to track the nhl.com game logs.

Schenn was great. But they didn't get him because of his nerdies. They got him for the same reasons they got bogosian and boosh. One happened to play the best hockey of his career, which I'm appreciative of. The other two were busts.

Dubas was publicly praising guys like Ceci in his first couple years. It seems a stretch that he personally was forced to add all these physical, defensive first players that don’t have skill.

kerf and Jarnkrok are two others we know he loved. Kampf too. Shanny wasn’t forcing those types on him. Dubas likes low event hockey.

Maybe their nerdies tell them something about rielly with a certain type of player?

Won't you know by next season?

Too bad Schenn’s agent doesn’t have access to those special stats — his client could be making more than minimum wage
There’s a reason why teams hire analytics departments and don’t just rely on naturalstatrick dot com.
