I do buy that there was a big internal debate within the Leafs braintrust about how to make us tougher to play against (because don't you sorta have to have that conversation seeing what we saw?) and I do buy that Shanny would've been horny over adding a guy like ROR if he was available... but I dunno, to put some little known guy like Boosh on Shanny seems weird to me. Seems more likely Keefe was asking for a guy to fill that role and did again with Schenn/Bogosian.

That's the part of the job Shanny does not want. it's a tough slog to have a giant organization report to you...all the non stop texts/emails they send you throughout the day asking you to weigh in about the smaller things...all the fires you have to put out on a daily basis

Like I said earlier, the sexy part of the job that everyone wants is making trades and signing UFAs...but that's just the tip of the iceberg

This is a good and relevant article. Part of any execs job is managing up. Every GM has a boss. And every boss, whether is a president or the owner, has opinions.

Big part of shannys job is keeping the board off Dubas’ back. Same applies to Dubas/Shanny.

he is the one who wanted to tank to build a skilled team, drafted Willy before Dubas was hired, and bet big on Dubas analytical approach and canned Lou/Hunter.

Obviously it wasn't a win in losing geadreau for nothing and tkatchuk was a loss....but he got a decent return for a player that wasn't going to sign.

If someone can turn Marner into hellybuck and a powerforward with offense or a number 1 dman..then I take that deal. With the money saved you can pay Willy and auston.
