The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

a) no. many GMs around the league do the hard work Dubas did (maybe not as much because their budget doesn't allow it)
b) no. interference happens everywhere.
c) Shanny just wants to win. Because he's more than a bean counter, he has ideas that might differ from his underling. Still, he valued what Dubas brought to the org until he lost faith in him.

Nah.

suggestion here is that:

1. Shanny has no interest in doing any of the work of a GM. He has clearly delegated the entire job of organizatin-building to Dubas, who has hired his people.

2. Despite that, he is frequently both blocking and forcing the most important GM decisions, against the opinions of Dubas and the organization he built.

3. he still wanted to re-hire and continue using this organization which he didnt build and which he frequently disagrees with so much so that he has to contradict many of their most important decisions.

This is extemely dramatic.

Like usual the truth is probably in the middle.

The contact stuff was probably over money and power. If I have full control. I'll do it for the agreed amount. If I don't have complete control I want more money. Shanny left that part out. And the media didn't ask about power.

Debating what players each wanted or didn't want is probably useless. Until more details emerge.

The one thing that does stick out though is that Greg Moore stuff (I'm still reading all the posts so I probably pulled a Greg Moore).... Seems that they wasted no time getting rid of the Marlies staff.... Did Dubas want to keep them? Or has that only been under Shanny?

I know everyone’s sick of hearing me talk about Shanny pushing his narrative in that presser, etc….but I did want to add, Jonas Siegel mentioned on last nights Leaf Report, that it stood out how few questions Shanny fielded afterwards, and how quickly the presser ended, after his 12 minute presentation.

He never unbanned me. You get one water tower, a few thoughts and prayers and everyone moves on to the next cause.

Did I mention Habsy banned me because I'm Ukranian?
Are you though? I would have actually banned you for being a Uke. 🤔

You know there is a loophole here.

He really was never banned so he was never unbanned. I think the point is valid. He still gets a water tower.

It did end abruptly but the questions that were asked were largely shit. The shanny speech was way more fascinating. Maybe the media wasn't expecting a blow by blow like that and all of their questions were already answered but the questions that were asked were... Meh. The episode was dragging on by the point and the writers were right to end it.

agreed.

Jonas said they ended it quickly, and reporters were left hanging on questions they still had, Jonas included.

…doesn’t necessarily mean anything, but he did say it was outside the norm.
