Why say Leafs or taking a year off? Why the taking a year off part? What does Shanny or the Leafs care what he does? They just told him to walk."Shanny was upset, and the only explanstion for that is dubas was trying to take his job."
Meh.
Well the problem there is that dubas signed a 5 year contract to work under shanny after the avs thing so, yeah; that theory doesn’t make sense.
Long gameNot that I subscribe to the theory but the internal logic is 100% sound.
If your goal is to stage an internal coup to the palace of your childhood dreams you don’t get a job outside the gates…. You commit to playing the long game, advancing your plot over an extended period of time, something like 5 years.
Seems weird. He lets him trade:maybe shanny vetoed glasses from moving the first round pick kind of thing
And that was after letting Dubas trade a whole draft's worth of picks in the Nick Foligno deadline.
He let him be VERY aggressive.
Didn’t even clue in we traded all those picks. Damn that’s a lot of draft capital for no results.Seems weird. He lets him trade:
1st in 2023
1st in 2025
2nd in 2023
2nd in 2024
2nd in 2025
2nd in 2026
3rd in 2024
3rd in 2023
4th in 2023
7th in 2023
then vetoes moving the Boston pick?
Was honestly kinda surprised at the time of the deadline about how much Dubas was able to do in the last year of his deal.

Analytics forward thinking gm my asshole
Half his moves were “played for the Soo”.
Honestly my mind just always goes back to that analytics conference speech he gave and it makes me think that isn't the same guy. At all. That's what I don't get about the "interference" angle. Where are the sneaky analytics driven pickups? His entire track record is that stuff, throw in a few good top pairing defenders (Muzzin & Brodie), and an 11 million dollar centre and that's basically the Dubas era. Gud pros and expensive veterans with established track records.
Where are all the sneaky analytics driven pickups and trades that the traditionalist Shanahan was plotting against and blocking some of?
