The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

I appreciate that there's at least a trace of a data driven approach to almost all of trelivings dealings even when he gets a bit carried away on the contracts. They could have done so much worse with this hire. So much. I feel like they dodged a bullet.

Yeah, I think you have to define what Coleman is first.

He's a guy who gives you 15-20/ and 35 points in zero PP time, while deep dicking the tough matchups and living in their zone all night.

We sure could have used that a few weeks ago, and I would have paid 4.9 for it...yeah.

Fair on you….if you’d take Coleman for four more years, just to have him last week. Top marks for admitting it.

We’ll have to try and track that….particularly how sandwiching in that $5m would look.

Hey, what it he's a huge part in shutting down the Verhaege line and we're still playing?

When you're trying to win this year, sometimes you have to worry about 2027's cap in 2027.

More speed up and down the lineup would've made a big difference.

Two guys like Coleman and Engvall could've turned the tide in those close games. Sandin transitioning out from the back end also.

We were solely lacking in that regard. And it wasn't all that hard to predict.

There's a reason why some of us were pretty damn dejected coming out of the deadline.

Love it or not, welcome to the Treliving era FI fam! We love you Montana. Give it some time, maybe it’ll work out for the best!

Dinner at BP on me to celebrate!

Far be it from me to get in the way of your day dreams, have at it.…I’m sure he’d have single-handedly won us 3 more games and one fewer loses.

…I’ll just be happy if Treliving doesn’t spend $5m long term on someone worse.

if Leafs are still playing with Coleman on it, you'd also be able to move him after the Stanley Cup parade #WinWin

combined EV goals over the last 2 Leaf seasons

1) Matthews: 71
2) Nylander: 52
3) Marner: 43
4) Bunting: 37
5) Tavares: 35
<------------- Coleman: 31
6) Engvall: 23
7) Kerfoot: 20
8) Kampf: 16

Sometimes we get way too caught up in pure counting stats and don't get just a shade more granular to include opportunity and ice time.

Stop poo pooing things there’s line 4000 data points in every decision he makes.

It's not like he wasn't part of a back to back cup winning shutdown line before or anything. Yeah, crazy to believe that he could have possibly moved the needle in a couple of close games. Who does he think he is, Nick Paul or Corey Perry?

Hey, it’s your fanfiction….you can dream about him winning as many games single-handedly as you’d like.

looks like the big mistake was moving Engvall.…he coulda won us 6 games last round.

Im never not surprised when people compare scoring between guys who play the pp and guys who dont.

We have now entered the "it doesn't matter if your team has good players" phase of the argument. It gets crazier every time I take a gander, folks.
