but he's the most traditional of CJust that Matthews behave the same way as other hockey players behave, and not as some unique unicorn.

Just that Matthews behave the same way as other hockey players behave, and not as some unique unicorn.
I literally took it into account with extreme specifics. And nothing has changed in terms of what the cap increases look like going forward from when mackinnon and pastrnak signed their deals.
Dom's cap projection numbers don't even differ from mine. He is just of the belief that some super elite players deserve a higher percentage of that cap, and that Matthews should be the one guy that sets that new and proper precedent, regardless of the fact that everyone who he is competing for cups against did not.
no shit...that's how it's worked in pro sports for the past four decades.
precedents get set
why not Matthews? why not now?
and no, I will not take "because Pasta" as an answer
you won't take "because every other player in hockey" for an answer?
no
If Auston doesn't set a new precedent, then it'll be McDavid in a few years
your "every other player in hockey" has squat to say about this
amazing how "setting a new precedent" becomes important precisely at the moment the leafs' best player's contract is up.
CH1: "Matthews will shatter all precedents and will be paid precisely according to Dom's model, far more than other stars have been paid before"
Zeke: "eh, this player will likely get paid according to league precedents like everyone else"
CH1: "lol biased"
In the same rarified air as MacKinnon, who signed 9 months ago, since when cap projections haven't changed an iota.
you're not biased this time; just contradicting regular season zeke where McDavid and Matthews are firmly in their own stratosphere
Neither set precedents last time though. McDavid just got Crosbys 17% of the cap second deal.
