Theere's so much b.s you deal with here. I bet Dubas is happy to go just for that reason (and the 40 million). seems he got presented with 2 offersheets for more $ as per reports. And I think the Offersheet show starring Dreger last 2 seasons.

Yeah being consistent has its value (can put more faith in them producing when it matters most, in theory)…..but being streaky is hardly a death knell for one’s value. (A) everyone is streaky to an extent, and (b) you’re still producing those numbers at the end of the day.

Saying he lacks focus and intensity sometimes, just means he must be more focused and more intense than the others then if he’s matching their production despite not being consistent. Cause buried in that assessment is the implication he out intensities them at times….which they dont get dinged for, but he does when his intensity drops below theirs?

I didn’t know about apparent offer sheets, so this is the first time us paying him so much more than Nylander has ever made any level of sense to me whatsoever.

…embarrassed I hadn’t considered that tbh.

Hes not either of them, but he def doesn’t trail them to the extreme degree media/fans like to imply.
 
For sure which is why he'll be receiving 3-4m per year less than them. Just not sure that trailing has extended to the playoffs tho, at least not in significant amounts. But that probably says more about Auston & Mitch just not being good enough than Willy being unusually elite.

$9.5m for 8 years should have been the target, and they should have gone to the brink with him to get it, not nickel and diming Nylander (only to cave to his ask, if memory serves?).

Yep. Nylander ended up getting essentially what he asked for initially.

And Dubas essentially wiped out an entire season of his prime to get to that point.

Yeah he came back jacked as fuck and not in hockey shape at all. He was pretty horrible and completely off-balance so his first year was a waste pretty much.
