The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

I feel like MaxPac would be a nice fit on the 3rd line. the left side is looking pretty weak even if you think Robertson is or will be a thing. should be good for at least 20 goals and won't cost a shitload.

Vegas had 9 forwards that put up > 1.8 5v5 p/60 (Eichel, Stephenson, Stone, Marchessault, Smith, Carrier, Amadio, Barbashev, Karlsson).

The Leafs had 6 (Matthews, Marner, Nylander, JT, Jarnkrok, Bunting)

Similarly, the Leafs had 5 forwards that scored < 1.5 5v5 p/60 (Acciari, Kerfoot, Kampf, ZAR and Lafferty) and Vegas had 3 (Howden, Kolesar, Roy)

5 black holes offensively in the bottom 6 is just a little bit much.

I'd love to live in a world where Jarnkrok is the only player I can bitch about. Because that's a pretty good player to have if he's the most frustrating one.

Until the playoffs at least.. At that point he's shit 100% of the time. LGM can confirm that.

We kinda get away with this in the regular season but in the playoffs if the other team manages to shut down our top guys for even a few games, the other guys aren't enough to overcome it. I'm genuinely surprised they don't seem to acknowledge we need more offensive depth and just plow forward into more defensive grit.

For context, there were 382 forwards that played 500+ 5v5 mins (roughly the top 12 f/team in ice time).

162 scored 1.8 p/60. That is about 5 per team. So the Leafs a bit above average, and Vegas way above.

147 forwards scored under 1.5 ppg (4.5 per team), so the Leafs slightly above average there, and Vegas well below.

Today's roster.

Knies - Matthews - Marner
Robertson - Tavares - Nylander
Jarnkrok - Holmberg - McMann
Steeves - Kampf - Lafferty

Rielly - Brodie
McCabe - Liljegren
Giordano - Timmins

Samsonov
Woll
Murray

He looks like the get, unless somebody pays. But he probably wants an opp to play for a big contract and to win, and with the state of the leafs lw - he’ll get both here.

With just a tick under $11m to spend on probably two spots.

That's including Murray at his current rate. Add more to that $11m if you think Samsonov will come in lower than Murray's current caphit.

And i think there's a number of more interesting extra forward candidates on the marlies this year than Steeves.

Quick summary.

Keefe sucks.

We should definitely sign Engvall again, because he’s fucking awesome.

No to MaxPac or any other player with a long history of injuries.

Willy probably is looking to crack $10m, but won’t. Problem is, he can wait a year to get the number he likes.

I have exactly zero faith our management knows what it’s doing, but I’m open to them proving me wrong by bringing in some fucking legit offensive talent.

Still a chance some of our UFAs see the offers and circle back IMO.

Maybe they'll only get their asking prices from crap teams.
