I feel like that's it... That's the summer. Now we wait till September pretty much. I don't think he'll tinker with much more outside of trying to add that "long" d that he said he covets. Loads of time on Willy and Matthews so that stuff probably won't move along quickly either. The Samsonov and Murray stuff will sort itself out.

i guess if your plan involves playing most games with the 2nd best goaltending, it makes sense that 50% of the team should play as cautiously low-event as possible.

Based on comparables, Willy wouldn’t be unreasonable to not settle for something below $9M.

I think he also knows full well that even if he leaves money on the table, Auston & Mitch sure as fuck won’t take a penny less than the absolute maximum they can squeeze out of the team. So any money he doesn’t take will just go straight into their pockets.

Freidman did suggest that if Matthews goes a bit lower, Willy is likely to as well. He doesn't want to be the only one to settle for less. I don't blame him if true. It starts at the top.
 
Willy would look like a real sucker if he takes 8m and Matthews holds firm at something like 14.5 or more. I'd want 10+ at that point too.


TLDR: Auston, you're up.
 
His patience and execution Bert and Domi suggest that there is some level of negotiating talent there. And of course it proves that Toronto is a whole different ballgame. So I'm personally starting from scratch with him because yeah, Calgary is not comparable.

we could use another Center I think. Probably another defender. Reilly really made Schenn look good. Anyone out there like that? Hamonic? Is he any good?
