The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

Getting Klingberg if EK is on their list doesn’t make too much sense, and it would look bad to trade him before he plays a game. Plus he has a 10 team NTC. But EK is just a Klingberg on steroids, there isn’t really room for both.

But…if the Tre philosophy is fuck D, let’s go all offense, then…as much as I love him, they could look at Brodie. Expiring $5m, did kinda look like he lost a step last year. It’s crazy talk, they’d never do it, and I don’t even think they should because Brodie is too critical, but he’s an easily movable $5m, and if they played it right, and traded him to like AZ, they could bring him back at the deadline at 50% retained.

Was the chat with EK before they signed Klingberg? Because my understanding is they spoke with him then. Klingberg deal ended any chance of EK.
I'm sure deep down inside Karlsson is worried that Pens are about to become Sharks and he'll never see the playoffs again.

I don't think the chicago arby decision from thursday has been announced yet so we prob don't hear the sammy decision today.

Ottawa:

Debrincat 82 --> Norris
Brassard 62 ---> Kubalik
Motte 38/Grieg 20 (58) --> Grieg
Watson 75 ---> MacEwen
Gambrell 60 --> Sokolov

Holden 65 / Chychrun 12 --> Chychrun
Zaitsev 28 / Docker 22 / Kleven 8 --> Docker/Kleven

Talbot 36 ---> Korpisalo

I think Ottawa is probably nicely improved this year.

Buffalo is a little messier to figure out, they're pretty much the same team, didn't really lose anyone but made a couple depth adds anyways.

Deadline add Greenway is now with them from the start of the year, but Quinn is out at least half the season rehabbing his achilles. When/If Quinn gets back Greenway's add will push out some regular from last year....maybe a vet like Jost or Girgensons, or maybe Quinn/Peterka will have to fight their way back in.

they added Clifton and E.Johnson without getting rid of anyone --- but now they have 9 dmen getting real money and none of them are waiver exempt other than Power. So they'll have to trade or waive at least 2 of Lyubushkin $2.75, Jokiharju 2.5, Bryson 1.85, Stillman 1.35 - i'd guess it would be the last two.

They've also lost Anderson in net, who was arguably their best goalie last year but still have the other 2 goalies in the goalie rotation last year.

I'd have to sketch them out someething like this:

Hinostroza 26 / Asplund 27 / Greenway 17 ---> Greenway

Bryson 59 ---> Clifton
Fitzgerald 23 / Stillman 18 / Pilut 17 ---> E.Johnson

Luukkonen 33 / Anderson 26 / Comrie 19 --> Luukkonen / Comrie

I'd say they're maybe slightly upgraded.
