The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

On one hand yes

On the other hand, he's 21. Don't get me wrong, another catastrophe of a season would be tragic, but if he's "just" a 20/40 pace guy over 50-60 games this season with relatively but not ridiculously sheltered minutes and 2nd PP unit opportunity, that's fine imo. Not ideal, not exciting, but fine.
he's only 21, but he's barely played any high level hockey over the past few years cause he spends most of his time in the infirmary.

so he has time to short his shit out, but he's also missed a ton of super valuable development years and burned years on his ELC and burned years of waiver eligibility.

so it's not just strictly the age clock.

love your nephew, want him to succeed, but am quite cautious about my expectations for him given his injury history and how shitty he's looked as a Leaf.

not according to my eyes. or any fancy stats I'm aware of...

he's shown flashes at the NHL level, but that's it.

Yeah, if he’s had any stretch during any of his brief NHL stints where he’s even looked like an NHL caliber player, let alone a good one, I’m unaware of it.

All you can really say at this point is he’s been good in the AHL when healthy—at least purely going off his scoring stats.

Phil Kessel looks finished. lack of conditioning finally caught-up with him. With his lack of injuries, guy could have still been real solid.
If Phil comes back I want him in a media relations role... anytime simmonds goes to speak he just says "you're so dumb" and moves on
