The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

More deep thoughts...

If they were going to sign Reaves, whatever, I don't get it, but a three year term, so why the fuck not at league minimum? How does he deserve anything more than that for 3 years at age 36?? Easily the outlier shit Tre move so far in his tenure.
Racist.

You can add some guys at league min to push for spots too. I don't love trading Krok but these days there is zero requirement of being a finished product until the deadline where you can shop for anything you need after evaluating for 75% of the season.

I don't love it especially in the regular season, but come playoff time Jarnkrok is nothing more than a replacement player anyway. It's just nice to have an extra guy like him that can pass and shoot the puck at a decently high level. If they're planning on playing Reaves and Lafferty every game I'd hope the rest of the roster can make some plays with the puck. So it's a loss and it hurts. But realistically playoff krok adds nothing. We have 86 games of evidence. He ain't figuring it out at 32/33.

Clubs are permitted to perform a buyout outside the regular period during the 48 hour period beginning on the third day after the final of [CBA 13(c)ii]:
  1. Settlement of the Club's final arbitration case, or
  2. Receipt of the Club's last arbitration award

this is the 1st day. wednesday the 3rd day. so a buyout of Murray would have to take place on thursday or friday.

personally, i don't think we'll see a buyout.

I feel like Kessel could out-Marleau Patrick Marleau when it comes to teaching the core to ignore the media - or better, shove their words back down their throats.

wait how do you read that cba clause.

48hr period beginning on the 3rd day.

So that would mean the 48 hours starts on wednesday (morning? Afternoon?) and ends on friday.

looking ahead to next year's cap....we have acres of space though lots of pieces to sign. even assuming $23m for matthews/nylander, we still have lots of space, enough to add another big piece. That might be re-upping Bertuzzi if he fits here well, but it's also an opportunity to add a bigtime D, if we can find one.

there will also be the interesting RFA cases of Lilly and Robertson.

the thing to really hope for this year is that both Woll and Hildeby have great years, making them a realistic cheapo goaltending tandem going into next year.

Robertson will be on LTIR before November.
