The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

Don’t know anything about Peeke but moving Brodie for a long term asset before he hits free agency would be a nice change from losing guys for nothing. Though I wouldn’t be looking to make the team worse. Brodies play before the playoffs looked as though he’d slipped a bit. Playoffs he was great for us.

I'm kind of giddy with anticipation over it, to be honest!

Kidding aside, I've sort of gathered some trust in the tree-dweller, as the only misstep so far has been the Reaves contract, which is minor. He let guys like Bunting just leave for sorta cheap. He hasn't resigned Matty and Willy yet. He seems kinda on the stingy side on the contracts now, using the Leafs' stature and power to his advantage in negotiations apparently. I don't think he's dumb enough to think this deal would make sense, unless it's purely a cap clearing move to bring in someone else that's maybe as good or better than Brodie and younger/cheaper and with term.

Marner Matthews so good. Spade docking motherfuckers.

So are we really going to get to September without a deal for Matthews?

Nylander I consider half out the door already, so it's not surprising to me he hasn't extended.

Like i said before, its pretty clear both of them are looking to get heavily paid. There is no team friendly contracts coming or they'd be done long ago.

The core better be enough to get the job done, because there won't be any cap room left to surround them with anything of significance.

The Leafiest possible outcome in my mind is that we play the entire upcoming season with Nylander and Matthews as pending UFA’s, and all of the media coverage around the team is insufferable as a result.

Then we lose in the first round to Dubas’s Pens, who then go on to win the Cup.

And in the off-season, Matthews & Nylander both walk as UFA’s, with Nylander signing with the Pens.
