The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

In a perfect world the 2c is a ROR type that can take the toughs from Tavares but this is what they've got. And hey maybe Willy can surprise us on the defensive end.

I actually like what Sheldon said today. Domi and Jarnkrok both bring something to a line flanking Willy that can help insulate him from the things he won't excel at in the middle. Both know how to be the low man in the defensive zone, both can take faceoffs competently. Willy in the middle of the ice will almost definitely mean a possession and chance advantage in our direction though. He's carried every line he's been on from the wing the last 2 seasons.

As a winger.

Yes, one of the best skaters on the team limited to part of the ice. At C, he's no longer limited and his elite skating will show better.

You realize that at 16-19 yrs old he was considered the best centre prospect Sweden had generated since Forsberg eh? The only reason we didn't play him at C here is because Saskatoon McSociopath didn't like him there. A dominant natural centre at every level until he reached the NHL at 19 and the Saskatchewan Science guy decided he wasn't a centre anymore. What fucking organization does that?

I get it with jarn, less so with domi, who has consistently been one of the worst defensive forwards in hockey.

But I'm sure it'll be more than fine throughout the season. Against top teams or in a playoff series I'm sure they may have to adapt at times. Curious to see how it shapes up.

On both of the last two good teams he played on(Dallas & Carolina), he put up pretty okay defensive numbers (while sheltered, which I would expect him to be on a Willy line here) but yeah, pretty bad (though not worst in the league type....but bad) numbers for the bad teams he's played on but not being particularly sheltered.

I don’t agree with not starting him out there, but it may well be the two issues I mentioned kept him from being a viable option as an NHL center in the eyes of the organization. And he can and has excelled as a winger despite those two issues.

Yeah, the Domi stuff makes little sense in this context.
