I was surprised he was so certain Bunting won't be back too
of course throw that article in the garbage now that Dubas is gone.

Even if they get someone good, that guy is gonna feel compelled to trade for the sake of trading, first to get rid of some loser stench, and second, to put his own stamp on the team. I’m not on board the break up the core train, so this is very bad news to me.when they ditched Quinn, I said there was a much bigger chance of getting a downgrade than an upgrade, and I kinda feel the same way here.....except this time I have much more faith in ownership being a modern professional outfit than back then, so i'm optimistic they'll get someone good.
of course, we're gonna hear a shit tonne of old school names being floated for the job and I am gonna shit my pants on every one of them until we finally make a hire.

I know you jest, but still, kindly fuck off and never make that suggestion in view of Leaf fans ever againIf Bergevin becomes GM I will root for the Leafs to win the cup next year. It’s too delicious of a narrative arc to resist

I choose to adopt and hope for this outcomeCould also go the other way - a new guy might feel like the clock resets and he gets to be more patient whereas Dubas would probably have to do something drastic.
You really think that’s a likely outcome?Could also go the other way - a new guy might feel like the clock resets and he gets to be more patient whereas Dubas would probably have to do something drastic.
It's not like he suggested Jim Benning.I know you jest, but still, kindly fuck off and never make that suggestion in view of Leaf fans ever again

Oh, I think we'll see signficant turnover. But there was limited places Dubas could go at this point - he already tried to keep the core together and make moves around it. A new guy might feel like he still could. You really think that’s a likely outcome?
I think we’ll see at least half the roster turn over, especially with all those expiring contracts.
He did make it to the finals with a banged up rag tag team. He could do that in Toronto! If Bergevin becomes GM I will root for the Leafs to win the cup next year. It’s too delicious of a narrative arc to resist
No surprise. Seemed like he was completely done. But still rough to here and sad that he won't be the one to bring the cup home. I liked the guy as a person and was really really rooting for him.
The new guy is gonna get the job based on his pitch on how he’d change things. And the crux of that pitch isn’t gonna be that he’d let ZAR walk as a UFA. Keeping things mostly the same is not going to land anyone the job here.yeah, it all depends on whether they hire a smart guy or an ego guy as GM, really.
I told you that in confidenceYou’re partly to blame — Shanny reads this board and your “Burke with glasses” really opened his eyes
