It was always a possibility but it still feels like a cop-out until it's actually confirmed. He has maintained many times that he has full autonomy. Could be a lie but until it's proven he was the GM and he made those personnel decisions, so it's on him.

If he truly was babysat by Shanny and upper management then he should get that leaked to the media.

It didn't help, but he chose to spend his extra cap on Kerfoot, Holl, Jarnkrok, & Murray. That's 11 million bucks to work with.

He received a very, very poor playoff ROI for that ~15% of his cap spend.

Forget this year, if there's no covid this team is past the first round more than once, just the expansion revenue alone would have ensured him being able to buy his way out of mistakes.

Who knows how far...and maybe we're talking about getting rid of a GM who can't get us past the final four....but I can say unequivocally we aren't in this particular situation if the world didn't stop for a few years.

I'm not exonerating him, I'm empathizing, as I picture the cap landscape in a year or two.

Yup. Pretty rare to have a consistently top 5 regular season team, plenty of cap space to tinker, and only one coach hire in your tenure, and not be brought back.

It wasn't a money thing, but the autonomy is looking like it was an issue and whatever power move he tried to solidify his standing within the organization backfired. This firing wasn't about money or results, but seemingly relationships, and maybe a shaking of team confidence over the cracks this formerly cool as a cucumber dude suddenly was showing.

I think i'm with him on most of those though.

Letting Lindholm go would be the worst one there i think...though was that really a financial move. He only got a $2m raise on his next deal.
