My daughter is currently enrolled in a french language school so I'm good.

I am disappointed to read the disparaging remarks made towards my people, however. Hoping for the big apology.
 
I have Parisian blood in me and a background in the langue from my grade school days, so it felt like UNFINISHED BUSINESS.

Completely agreed. And honestly, as a Torontonian - or at least, as a GTAer - his critiques of the city were spot on. Especially regarding our architecture’s lack of character, innovation, or ingenuity.

Joe Beef is 100 percent on my restaurant bucket list though. Will have to have a meal there the next time I’m in Montréal. Now that place is a truly authentically Canadian establishment.

The ex I mentioned used to get routinely pissed off on layovers in Paris because apparently Parisians would switch to English around the Québec crews and act all condescending towards them.

The funny thing is that Metropolitan French is a far more bastardized language than the French spoken in Québec

I would add the caveat that very often the way many people express 'anti-Israel government' sentiment rapidly crosses into anti-Semitism. but a big can of worms we need not open.

by all means check out Joe Beef (esp grab a patio seat in the summer) but also consider Vin Mon Lapin (new place with ex wunderkid Joe Beef chef at the helm)
