The Motherfucking 2021 Season Thread

I'll say this re: Freddy.

Playing a half game in the AHL 8 days before the end of the season is generally not how you prepare for the playoffs.
 
Trying Spetzky at C just makes a ton of sense right now. When we look at the group of guys on the lineup bubble. AG, Kerfoot, Engvall, Brooks...and knowing that we only have space for one of them when Hyman returns, AG has been the best of the bunch in their respective roles. Spezza being able to cover the 4C position balances our lines in a way that no other configuration does. Hyman makes that 3rd line deadly, but without him it becomes a pedestrian affair that is at best a low event line that puts even more offensive pressure on the top 6 and (ffs) the powerplay.

With how our PP has performed for the last ~30 games now, we can't go into the playoffs expecting to win anything while only getting goal scoring at 5 on 5 and from 2 lines only. Turning the 3rd & 4th in no event checking lines makes us so fucking dependent on Jack and the PP to win.

What scares me is that if Jack has a speed wobbles, the gut reaction is going to be to throw Freddy in there. I want to be wrong about Freddy, but I really don't think that I am. Out of shape, declining, and mentally fragile at the best of times. He's the exact presence that Keefe needs there to not just ride or die with Jack, and Jack is our only hope.
 
I'm as cocky as it gets in the first two series. Don't give a shit which goalie plays. They don't need anything great or even good to win those series. Just find a hot one heading into the third round and take it from there. I don't care who it is. It could be Jack, Rittich, Freddy or even ME's 4th dick. Don't care. Just figure it out in the first rounds.
 
the first 2 rounds will have interesting narratives.

Hellebuyck and Price have the golden reputations, but Smith and Campbell have been massively better than them this year, in now-legit fulltime starter samples.

I'm hoping Allen is available for the 1st round against Edmonton. He has his moment of good. Carey belongs in the same bin as Freddy imo.
