The New Division

Shit happens.

Yeah the Habs were beat up...because the Sens beat them up.

Perhaps. Or the fact could be that many of their players were injured prior to the series, compounded by the fact the team in general had taken its foot off the gas a few weeks prior, when they clinched the NE. Add to that, of course, that the series meant much less to the Habs that it meant to the Senators, whose media were claiming that all of a sudden all the Habs fans were going to become Senators fans (heh) and we surely have a one of the most lopsided playoff series in history.

And of course, the Senators are being picked to do much, much better this year. We'll see how that bears out for them. Usually, higher expectations haven't been a portent of great things to come.

It's pretty sad that the first round last year is the marquee point of the Sens existence.

The series "meant less to the habs than the senators"???!??!

Babbbaaaawahhahhahaabawaaahahahaha.

It didn't? The Senators and their accompanying media said that beating the Habs was a watershed moment.
I didn't hear anyone in the Canadiens camp, from Bergevin on down, claim that beating the Senators would be anything special.

Come on, you guys remind me of the bowler that gets one strike and flaunts his 62 total all summer long.

It was a watershed moment in the rivalry with the Habs. Beating the Devils in the first round was a far more significant moment in the franchise's history.

That's the wishful thinking of a delusional mind. Like hoping the driver was a muslim so that an accident could be a terrorist attack.

Your own coach:

"I thought the whole series was fun," said MacLean. "I didn't think it was bitter at any time. At the end of the series it's just 'good job,' 'good job.' I congratulate Michel on his team."

However, he could not hide his glee with what his team accomplished.

"We just beat the Montreal Canadiens in the Stanley Cup playoffs," he said. "I mean, to me that's huge. I'm going to call my mom and say we finally beat her team."

When the coach's own mom won't cheer for her son's team, you know how important that win is.

Such a sad little man. Any other excuses you can come up with?
