The Search for the New GM Thread

can you elaborate on this? who do you mean?
Jack Han had a tweet about them dumping and chasing saying that he is sad and shocked that they are deploying a strategy that the organization , from top to bottom, frowned upon. Charron has commented that his input was mostly ignored from a game management perspective near the end.

Cool. So forward thinking and analytics driven under babs. Cron magnon under dubas’s hand picked Keefe.

we all watched the playoffs and consistently came away with the idea that we weren't hard enough to play against, really. is it possible that the failure pushed a course modification as well?
Absolutely. We know the vision and philosophy changed dramatically. I don't know who was responsible for that change. Could be Kyle. Could be a mix. Could be entirely shanny. It's all speculation right now. No one knows for sure.

In all this is everyone accepting that he thinks he'll get another gig easily which made him bolder?

I mean I wouldn't bet against the guy popping up elsewhere. If not this year then next.

“Changes dramatically” is pretty melodramatic and doesn’t align with the rosters composition or the teams style of play.

True, there are only 32 jobs in the NHL, but there always seems to be a position open.

What time was Shanny's presser announced? Was it after he canned Glasses, or was it announced Thursday.
If it was Thursday, i smell bs...

To me, a lot of the moves especially at deadlines had similiar intention... Muzzin, Foligno, Bogosian, Boosh, Schenn, ROR, Lafferty, Acciari, McCabe.

This wasn't really sudden. It was in response to seeing us roll over every year, IMO.

For sure. It was a gradual shift. We're just speculating on who was the main catalyst for the shift in philosophy. Could easily have been Kyle himself because of the lack of the results getting to him. But in any event I think they overcorrected, especially this year.

i think a mix is the only fair conclusion to draw for now….but if it comes out that Dubas wanted Ekholm, and Shanny nixed it. We riot.

I think this makes me feel a little better tbh. That Huberdeau deal is looking pretty rough.
I always appreciate how people on this forum can make arguments for anyone....and make them sound appealing. I too was scared of the idea of treliving....then the stats and drafting was posted and sure the huberdeau deal seems bad BUT.

Calgary lost it all on bad goaltending and as others said, the fact that players didn't want to be there. He then had to overpay weeger and huberdeau to avoid that happening again.

But looking at that tkatchuk deal, he got a tonne of stuff from Florida. And sutter killed them.

I was never a fan of gaudreau (I feel very similar to a marner) in the sense of his size...definitely more of a goal scorer.

There were a tonne of people on this board that wanted weeger so badly.

Sure it didn't work out money wise for huberdeau but that goaltending and coaching was awful

I can be convinced of a treliving but I'd love to see pridham stay for cap reasons

I think it’s hard to tell the *extent* of all this because to a certain point I would think a President would have some input on huge deals and that’d be normal, and that there’d also be a lot of natural disagreements over how to fix an elite regular season team that can’t win a round.
