The Search for the New GM Thread

It’s not like you can just will every player you want on to your roster.

a big part of the reason why they’ve relied on plugs the past few years is because they traded a boat load of picks.
Not quite. They’ve had Sandin and Lilly for years, barely used them. They’ve had kids like Holmberg and McMann, didn’t bother to play them. They were in no way forced to go the vet route.

I went through divorce recently dude, don't listen to either side.
If his marriage wasn’t on the rocks before, with all that lost money and a Dubie hanging at home 24/7 for the next while, it sure will be now.

A job like this is all-consuming. It will need to sort of always be #1 in your life. If that’s a problem, it’s not for you. Dubie basically told the world it’s a problem. Hence, Nubie.

In all this is everyone accepting that he thinks he'll get another gig easily which made him bolder?

I mean I wouldn't bet against the guy popping up elsewhere. If not this year then next.
Of course he will. He’s widely adored. But he’ll never have anything as good as what he had here, and I’m sure it’s eating him alive as we speak.

Last comment....I also hope that Quenvilles involvement in the Chicago shit wasn't as bad.....because he had the panthers as president trophy winners amd he is a veteran coach....the Q has some small reminders of Quinn

I hope quenville is cleared because he could be a difference maker

i think a mix is the only fair conclusion to draw for now….but if it comes out that Dubas wanted Ekholm, and Shanny nixed it. We riot.
I really don’t think the dynamic was like that, that Shanny would veto his trades. Sounds like he was pretty hands off.

And takes like this are super bad. He got Lou Lamoreillo, who hadn’t had a boss in 40 years, to work for him. Everyone loves Shanny.

I’d love to work for a guy who was like the way Shanny came off yesterday. Dream gig working under a calm, collected, rational guy who likes me and wants me to stay several more years and set me up for a few lifetimes?

Anyone, especially women, that has been married can tell you they're sick of hearing their significant other bitch about work.

Still thinking this is that and Dubas thinks he'll find something else (and probably will) and the ridiculous offer was what it would take to deal with that. Yes it came down to money but why? I don't accept that its solely greed.

If I had any ties to pro hockey, you better believe I’d have been slowly trying all these years.

A mentor of mine represented Gordie Howe, a client is tight with Chelios in Malibu, Frenemy has a few random connections because he teaches kids tennis (but nobody likes that guy), and this guy at street hockey has some inroads to Habs players. But no Leaf ties whatsoever.

When Tavares was being wooed by suitors as a UFA, I was basically across the street, in pain that I wasn’t part of it. I actually dated this girl who worked for the CAA sports dept, but in accounting not in operations.

Frenemy actually tried me again yesterday when the news broke. I haven’t replied to him in over a year. Here’s how he tried to smooth things over:

“Need a new iPad? I know someone selling one cheap.”

Funny, I’ve never talked work after work unless something major was going on, which would be temporary. I find work talk boring outside of work, usually don’t need any venting time. And I’m cool listening to it, because I always think I can help somehow so it’s like a problem solving exercise.
