Im real glad to hear you’re on this side of the fence….(not that I’d have thought you wouldn’t be)…..but it’s fucking revolting the extent everyone right down to the CBC are peddling something as dangerous as gambling to everyone as a fun wholesome sidekick to enjoy with your sports.…(not to mention how aggressively it’s being marketed to youth).

Im sure I’ve mentioned already on here, but the fact gambling addiction has a higher suicide rate than any other addiction is the kind of thing that should give some of these fucks pause before selling their souls.

It’s not the equivalent of the opiod epidemic…but the parallels between how harmless it’s being marketed, and the massive explosion in lives/families ruined, is hard to ignore.

Like most vices, I'm generally fine with putting appropriate guardrails/regulation in place and creating direct taxation funnels between those who profit to make them pay for the social damage they cause. Tis part of a "free" society at the end of the day, to allow people to make choices that might be bad.

But

Fuck me if the level to which it's become omnipresent isn't completely nauseating.
 
I don’t think Treliving is the optimal choice but he’s not a toilet option like Chiarelli Fletcher or Bowman imo

Also, is Ray Shero good? Bad? Did he build slot of Jersey

Ive been gambling my whole life, had some nice big wins…..but I’ve also done a fuckload of cocaine, and don’t particularly think it should be marketed like frosted flakes to everyone 24/7.

The fact it’s gotten to the point where HNIC breaks away to give you suggestions of parlays you should throw your money away on, or UFC announcers play to your FOMO by telling you how much money you could have made after a crazy underdog wins, is batshit insane.

should be limited like other vices, tax these companies heavily and dump it directly into social safety nets like Mindz said…..and I’d also love to see a warning chyron onscreen anytime gambling is being mentioned/promoted.

Most of the companies are struggling mightily and finding out that Ontario has been a pretty shit market for them. That advertising budget is based on pure evil though... Which I get it, their goal as a company and responsibility to their shareholders is to hook as many people in as possible. But the NHL being complicit is inexcusable.
