The Search for the New GM Thread

Treliving’s signature thing seems to be inability to re-sign his best players. Maybe not the best fit here right now.

Not really my point though. They could be all for running it back but they also wouldnt be doing their job if they didnt explore the market for them either.

All great players but if there is a deal out there that has a player who is a better fit for your vision you should be allowed to explore that option

I guess my point is that a) they're not going to hire a GM and tell him he can't do stuff, and b) i hope they wouldnt hire a guy who in the interview process wasnt excited by the chance to make this core work.

I personally think both Johnny and Tkachuk would have signed long term

Treliving was a pussy and chose a bridge deal approach because he wasn’t sure they were max guys

then they hired Sutter and the studs decided no more
See I’m pretty sure this was an ownership and not Treliving decision

I felt it mutual both ownership and gm.

regardless it was dumb. 18 year olds become married 25 year olds in the NHL. Sign them before they establish a family and other voices get involved.

It wasn’t Dubas on the ice.

I don’t see how Americans not wanting to sign in Calgary was Trevlings fault. All our players very openly want to stay anyway.

Yeah, I mean it’s not like the brother of one of those American players signed long-term in an even smaller Canadian market when his GM didn’t dick him around with a bridge deal.
