The Search for the New GM Thread

Some of Treiliving’s greatest hits on the contract front, for reference’s sake:

Huberdeau 10.5 x 8
Kadri 7 x 7
Monahan 6.375 x 7
Markstrom 6 x 6
Neal 5.75 x 5
Coleman 4.9 x 6
Hiller 4.5 x 2
Brouwer 4.5 x 4
Frolik 4.3 x 5
Zadorov 3.75 x 2
Stone 3.5 x 3
Bouma 2.2 x 3
yeah okay you're making me reconsider. that's pretty fugly from top to bottom. I don't know that there's a single good contract in there. fuck.

He's not my preference but I'd wanna give Treiliving a chance to work around what I feel like is a stronger management group than what they had in Calgary. He helped build a strong team even if some of those contracts he gave were very un-Dubas-like. We're used to a GM that signs 0 crippling contracts but that's not the norm across the league.. We may have to prepare for some stinkers.
that's one thing I will miss about the Dubie-man, very greatly.

I’m still hoping for Tulsky really. Let me have my hope.
If they're concerned about optics (not saying they are) they won't hire the guy Pittsburgh said no to in order to take Dubas.

Parasite media will have a field day.

To be fair—that is specifically a list of his fugly contracts.

He had some good ones too (Gio, Gaudreau’s last deal), but it’s a shorter list than the one above and in no way balances out all the godawful deals he handed out.

yeah not great.

trying to make excuses as i go down the list....

...top 2 were desperation mode.

Monahan was actually probably a good contract that got screwed by injury.

the goalie contract definitely worries me, and I would expect him to come in here and try to sign a big name goalie right away.

and then......yeah the ones after that are all shitty too. only excuse i could make is that it costs more to get guys to sign in calgary. but still, not good.

Bad teams pick high. Higher odds.

does that include draft position.

and can you look at just the rankings since 2018?

Armstrong has a strong track record. Blues have missed the playoffs twice since he took over and hes still managed to find value in almost every draft

12 - Parayko
14 - Fabri and Barbashev
15 - Dunn
16 - Thompson and Kyrou
17 - Thomas
