The Search for the New GM Thread

I mean we all ascribed to the 'pay your stars' theory and then fill out the rest of the roster.

In theory, the hardest part ought to be getting the stars. We've ticked that box at least.

See it’s good when 4 elite players take up all your cap space. No room to give out dumb contracts.

exactly...most teams that fall into cap hell do so because they don't have real elite players, understandably can't find them easily and so they end up giving their non elite players (or those on the market) way too much money

I mean the media has known jack shit about what's actually happening inside the team basically since Shanny took over.

I don't expect that to meaningfully change cause he fired the Doobieman.

drown out the noise, they know as much as we do.

Of course the model makes sense...as long as the guys you're paying top 10 salaries to actually perform as such, and carry your team's ultimate success on their backs.

If you don't get that kind of performance out of them, and it's not giving you a leg up on the other good teams, then the entire premise falls apart.

yeah, CARTER VERHAEGHE and his 4.2M cap hit outperforming guys making 2.5x more in a short series can’t happen

If I’m facing the Leafs I’ll gladly sit out my top 5 forwards if they do the same in the playoffs.

Randomness is always good for the underdog
