TML? More like FML, amirite? Yet Another Off Season Thread

But the Leafs had one of the worst goaltending in the league last year. If Murray just replicates what he did last year, the Leafs improve in net. That's not even including whoever the other guy is that they get. We're really underestimating how easy it will be to improve in net.

Unfortunately I think we've said this like... almost every year since Belfour left.

Look, you could be right, but I'll be nervous about Murray until he shows me. The 18 games of good play in the last few seasons isn't exactly filling me with warm and fuzzies.
 
We got absolutely hosed on the Marleau trade.

Everything about this Murray rumor is nauseating. Get a good goalie. None of this hoping he’ll be ok.

Here’s what we know. Murray has been shit. He’s been injured a lot. And he’s expensive.

The fact that the Leafs (1) haven't made a deal with Jack, or traded for Murray/Georgiev/Husso etc., (2) Dubas' comments after the Mrazek deal that they now have enough cap space to go after anyone, and (3) still have zero goalies, leads me to believe they want to take a run at Kuemper first.

That shouldn't really mean you pick someone close to the bottom in the last two of three and pray, though.

Unless he's your clear backup and you can get double retention to allow you to pick a better starter, I guess.

It was more to show people who are saying "get a reliable goalie!11!!!!" that there really aren't any in the NHL. They are either inconsistent or can't stay healthy or young without a track record. I'm not saying go get Murray, but options kinda suck.
 
Moving Holl + Kerfoot, signing Strome, Murray at double retention and Kuemper actually all works under the cap, doesn't it?

Well to this particular point, the NHL does a piss-poor job protecting goalies. I mean I remember being 22 and you could take a 2x4 to the side then go back to drinking getting ready for the next tilt. These guys aren't pussies yet they get hurt because of color blind linebackers on skates not seeing the blue paint.
